"Consumer Portfolio Services" And "The Finance Co." CPS Hounding/Harrassment just won't stop Internet, Internet
I have had a auto loan with CPS for a little over 4 years with 90% of my payments made on time or early. In March 2009, I lost my job due to the current economic mess this country is in, however I made every payment on time during my lay-off. I am receiving unemployment payments and because my inital claim ran out and I had to file for an extension I had another week waiting period with no income. I was unable to make my December payment, I called CPS and spoke with Rachel and asked for the payment to be deferred, she told me since I was not employed with verifable employment they would not defer my payment, even though my husband is a co-owner on this loan and is gainfully employed. I told her that I would not be able to make December payment and explained reason why, I also offered to make a double payment in February if they could just give me a break on the December payment, she became billergent calling me a loser, and doing nothing to better my situation then sitting on my a$$. I hung up on her, the next day the harrassing phone calls began. I have caller ID so I can see that they are calling and refuse to answer the phone.They call at least 10 times a day and some times call within seconds of the last call. I did send in a payment in January which hasn't cleared by bank account yet, so they continue to call. Today my neighbor knocks on my door and tells me that they got a message on their answering machine from CPS stating this call is for your neighbor and we can't reach them, please give your neighbor this message and ask them to call us, it is an urgent message. We have never gave CPS our neighbor as a contact and have no idea how they found my neighbors number. What right do they have to call my neighbors or people not on my contact list? This is not only embarrassing but harrassment plan and simple. My car is paid off in October 2010 and I can not wait to get rid of this company, I would never recommend them to anyone. Somebody should be able to do something to this company for their unfair and unethical collection practices. Threaten me, my family and telling my neighbors they are going to repo my car isn't going to make me have money to make a payment that I don't have any sooner. What ever happened to customer service for good clients?
