"Scot" Scruta and The Offices of Tyler & Scruta Neither an attorney nor a licensed collection agent! San Antonio, Texas
This company has done nothing by non-stop calling, email, mailing and trying to get in touch with anyone and everyone that I have know and that has died before me. Simple understanding this one here folks.
I rented something, paid for it, returned it and now I am receiving calls, emails, and mails from some guy name "Scot" Scruta and The Offices of Tyler & Scruta saying I owe somewhere in the neighborhood of over $2,200.00.
Then the recent letter is he mailed me a bogus facsimile transmittal sheet stating that he was filing a complaint with the state licensing board for a personal debt to the company in which I work for part time. What???
Then I get a copy of an old invoice with the words "LIEN 7-20-12" on it and "PAST DUE"; however, I never received a Certified Copy of anything? Another what??? Finally, I did some research on this guy and this so-called company and here is what I found out.
1. Not an attorney
2. Not a licensed debt collector
3. I can not find him as a LLC as they state.
4. BBB non-accredited (and the Texas BBB says there is nothing they can do to help!)
5. Has been issued a Letter of Caution from the RPS Consumer Protection Committee in North Carolina for this SAME thing!
"08AP0015-SD: "Scot" Scruta dba "Tyler and Scruta" individual who is neither an attorney nor a collection agent to a couple in Charlotte, NC, in an effort to collect a purported debt of an equipment provider from a contractor engaged by the couple has been ordered to cease and desist.
Scot and his company "The Offices of Tyler & Scruta" have been reported to the Texas Better Business Bureau, the Texas Attorney General's office and now the Ripoff Report. Beware of this schemer. Oh yeah, nice email address working for this prestigious collection firm.

First I will reply directly to Mr. Johnston's ridiculous allegations, and then state the facts in this case.
1) Tyler & Scruta files liens and handles commercial mediation cases. We are not the lawyers. We hire the lawyers as Mr. Johnston and all our clients well know. The lawyers work for us.
2). You CAN NOT be a licensed collection agency in Texas. That would be ILLEGAL. There are no such licenses provided in Texas and most other states- as this customer would have discovered if he would have done any research at all. So his rant is completely without merit. Now lets examine why he is trying so hard at deflecting the blame away from himself-when he is the one who did not pay our rental client.
a). This customer tried to rent on C.O.D. from the rental company, as his credit was declined. He paid for 1 day of rental in advance then refused to bring the machine back to the rental company for 30 days. He was NEVER extended any credit here. The POLICE had to be called and he was going to be arrested as he refused to pay or "EVEN RETURN THE CLIENTS EQUIPMENT". He did not return the equipment voluntarily, nor has he ever paid for the rental. If he would have, my office would have never been involved. The POLICE secured return of the equipment
b). Mr. Johnston burned this same rental company previously for $20,000.00!! He used a different company name and address. He thus has a history of larcenious actions and that is just in his dealings with one rental company.
c). This man does business under several different company names and uses various addresses to thwart payment from unsuspecting companies. The license he lists on his ads (8053368) was not even recognizable by the Arkansas State of Code Compliance. They had to research and find any license (0226671012) under his name-which he obviously attempts to hide from the public to thwart possible complaints on his license.
d). Mr. Johnston filed a complaint with a BBB office in Texas against my office-which resulted in him being forced to withdraw the complaint when the facts of the case were provided by our rental client. My office has zero complaints in a long tenured history in this business. We would have filed a defamation suit against this criminal if he would have any assets at all to make the case worthy of such action. These are the facts of the case and they are undisputed.
