Shortly after applying, "Thomas" (no last name given) from US Immigration Support contacted me and we set up an interview on January 11, 2010 via Skype. During the interview we negotiated a project of 30 articles for $20 per article. I sent him the first 4 articles to ensure he was satisfied with the work (he indicated he was). I sent him the completed project + my invoice for $600 on January 22, 2010. He responded via Skype that he would pay me "immediately".
After 30 days of submitting my invoice I still had not received any payment. I began emailing him several times a week but received no response. After a few weeks I began calling but could only leave messages on an automated line. After about 2 weeks of leaving messages, I mysteriously was no longer able to get through on their toll free line from my area (Canada).
I sent a registered letter with a copy of the invoice and another request for the invoice to be paid. A few days later, the status of that letter showed up online as "Recipient not located at address provided".
I have accepted the fact that I will not receive any money from this company. I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and He taught that we should not sue those who have wronged you. I do not want to pursue legal action against this company. My purpose for filing this report is not to slander this company. I would simply like to warn other freelancers not to work for them so that others can avoid being taken advantage of, like myself.
