My name is Tony and I live in Colorado. I am contacting you about a company called 1&1 Internet Inc. in
Chesterbrook, PA. They are a subsidiary of a German owned company called United Internet.
I registered a couple of domains with them hoping that a business idea would come to fruition. It did not. As I have done dozens of times the domains simply expire after the year is up and that's that. Not with this company.
They insist that I agreed to an "auto-renewal". I never did, or see these "terms and conditions" when I used their service. I would have never done that. There are an abundance of reputable companies that register domains. They sent an invoice to an email address I simply do not use any more.
When I didn't respond they turned it over to a very aggressive and harassing collections agency called
NCO Financial Systems INC. Their fees are for $18 and $19 dollars. I am guessing that most people just pay them to get rid of the hassle. I did a limited amount of research and found HUNDREDS of people they have done this to. Most of them had been hit with fees 3 to 5 times more than myself. If I have found HUNDREDS there are THOUSANDS of people they have done this to. If you take just 1000 (there are more) people they have done this to at $37 that comes to $37,000!
