1and1 Internet has auto-renew of your registered domain names. If your credit card changes (including if there is fraudulent activity on it and the issuer reissues a new card), they cannot rebill, so they send you an innocuous e-mail asking you to update your credit card. The subject line of the e-mail does not state that there is a payment owing or asking whether you do want to renew the domain names. Once it is sent to collection, the intiial collection fee (~$20)is larger than the renewal fee. In addition, the collection agency charges a $12 processing fee. This company has poor and unethical business practices. BEWARE!
