I opened a web hosting account with 1&1 internet in June. The price on the server was to be $149.00 per month. However, a few days after I opened the account, the charge from 1&1 posted to my credit card not for $149, but for $1,490.00. Confused as to why the charge was 10x what I authorized, I called their billing department. The person I spoke with (did not get his name) looked up my account and said he could not see any problem. He still did not seem to understand when I told him that I had been charged 10x more than the advertised amount.
When I then asked to speak with a supervisor he told me "a supervisor wouldn't want to talk to me" and hung up.

At this point I emailed their billing department with a plea for help. I emailed with a lady named Jill Daubert in their billing department who would not help either. Of the 30+ emails I sent to their department over the course of two weeks, the best answer I could get out of her was "It is not 1&1's policy to issue refunds." I then gave up on resolving the dispute directly since 1&1's billing department was clearly worthless and the $1490.00 charge was still on my credit card costing me money in interest.

I then submitted a billing dispute with my credit card company. When 1&1 received notice that I was doing a chargeback through my credit card they terminated my account (Even though I have paid for at least 10 months of service) have sent back to my card company and said that this is in fact a valid charge.
