1st American Leasing charges exorbitant rates for a $200 credit card machine ($250 per month for 4 years), and then if you default they quickly turn over your bill to a Collection Agency called "CCA" that doubles your bill.

My name is Joseph Sanscrainte, and I am an attorney located in New York, NY. One of my clients signed up for a "lease" through 1st American a couple of years ago, and after they stopped using the processing terminal, tried to stop paying for the "lease." Of course, 1st American told them they couldn't stop paying, and that if they did, 1st American would file a lawsuit. So my client (like so many others) finds itself paying thousands of dollars over 4 years for a piece of equipment that costs $250.
This use of a "lease" as a means to force small businesses to pay large amounts of money for equipment that costs maybe 10% of the total lease payments is just plain wrong. I am going to be filing a class action against 1st American and its processor equipment partners in New York Supreme Court on behalf of my client and other entities similarly situated.
