I entered into a contract believing it when they said that my husband and I had approved by supposedly our mortgage to do a modification loan. We signed all the documents and faxed over in good faith, but when I decided to do some checking, I called our mortgage company and they stated they never approved this modification, that they had just received a letter asking for one. I asked various questions and decided that maybe this company was not representing all the facts truthfully. Therefore, I faxed over my cancellation notice, or Right of Recission within the required 3 days of business. There was a weekend and a Monday holiday involved here also. I knew that it could take 10 days to get the refund, so after this time, I called and was told that it needed to be 10 business days, which would require a few more days wait. I called again and was told that the refund should show up back in our account by Wed. of that week. Friday, when the money was not there, I called again and was told by the same person that a separate holding company had our funds and it was in process and should be back in our account then by Monday. I decided to check on this and called the holding company, which told me that they no longer had this money in our account, and the account was very much still open and another draw could be taken at a later time if 1st Financial Group wanted to. I called them back rather upset that I was lied to and asked for an explanation. No call back was received and thus far I have called 4 more times to various numbers with no response. Incidently, the phone they list on their website is no longer an active number. Does this tell us anything? In conclusion, this company has to be a rip-off and thiefs if they refuse to even return my phone calls!!! The person I have spoken with indicated that they are busy and that is why noone ever answers directly and a caller is forced to leave a message. How many messages or calls does it take? They can't be that busy!!! All I want is my money back which I am in no position to loose..........PLEASE!

In response to Connie's complaint, her file with 1st Financial Group was processed in a timely and professional manner. She was not lied to nor is the number on our website no longer active. She did experience some difficulty reaching our customer service department due to high call volume, however she was contacted on numerous occasions regarding the status of her file and a full refund was issued prior to this report being filed. Furthermore she sent us the following e-mail:

I want to offer my utmost gratitude to you for doing all that you did for us. We were in no position to lose this money and felt that we were stretching things too far to go ahead with a loan modification right now.

I was loosing faith in human nature, especially at your company, but you have restored it for me! If I were you though, I would look into the matter of your company's customer service though, so this can be avoided happening to anyone else, as well as the time it took to process the return back into our account.
