I moved in Sawmill Creek 08/2012. Upon moving in I noticed maybe around day dark spots popped up on the carpet, pet hairs in the tub and on our clothes after we would lay on the carpet. I ignored it because this was my 1st apartment, I had no clue to what they really do before you move in. For example, cover up problems and blame you for it when you move out. Hurricane Issac came later that month, we evacuated to Texas until the storm was over. I discovered mold on the ceiling, called maintenance and they came over and painted over it. Every single time we had a problem, they never completed fixed the root of it, they always patched it up. I decided to move out when the lease was up in 10/2013. After I moved out I received a letter saying that I had to pay over 1k for carpet replacement. I called the main office on Napoleon Avenue. I asked Crystal for pics, analysis and invoice for the carpet. Crystal sent it over to me with no problem at all. However, the invoice looked like it came from a mom and pop shop. The pictures from the carpet were all from the same area in the apartment. Crystal told me even though it's not in every single room, I still have to pay for the entire apartment. I also asked her how long was the carpet in the apartment before I moved in, she couldn't give me an answer. If the carpet was damaged that bad, I would have paid it with no problem.

I refuse to pay for something that most likely due for replacement anyway. I asked her if I could come look at the stains she stated the carpet had been replaced already. After review she came back and said it had not been done and after installation she would send over the actual bill from the company. This all happened in 11/2012. I never heard anything back from Crystal no emails, calls, bills ever again. Now in 08/2017, I received a letter from an attorney about the charges. I talked to previous tenants and all said 1st lake did them the similar things when moving out. This can't be lawful what they are doing to us. I'm in the process of starting a class action lawsuit against because they are ripping people off. If 1st Lake did this to you or anyone you know. Contact me (((REDACTED)))

After Katrina the 1st Lake Propert I was staying at completely flooded. It took a month for an employee to show up and open a makeshift office where our leases were terminated. I was lucky and able to find another apartment with 1st Lake Property again since the only assistance offered to previous tenants affected by Katrina was to be bumped up on a waiting list of about 500 people also in need of a roof over their heads. So maybe 5 years? Later I moved out and then was mailed a bill for over $1,000 on top of losing my deposit and pet deposit.

I was being charged for them needing to o repaint the walls and a "wine stain" on the kitchen counter. I did the same as you pretty much and spoke with the main office. They weren't letting up so I went to the office in person and requested to see their photographic evidence of the damage I did. I reviewed everything, told them I don't see any damage ans/or stain, explained that my unit wasn't painted in over 5 years of my residing in it, and that I don't drink wine. Then I stood up and walked out while telling them to stop harassing me and the condos they need me, they can call my Attorney... Never heard from them after that.
