Complaint Review: Zachary Thomas

Was contacted by a suposed 1st Lt. Zachary Thomas in reference to purchasing a 2003 Toyota Camry. Email as follows:

I'm an 1st Lt. in the USAF, currently stationed in Aviano, Italy for next two years.

The reason of selling it, is that i am unable to obtain a European Certificate of Conformity in United Kingdom because this car meets US
standards. Changing US standards to European standards will require modifications, paper work and high costs.

This is the first time selling my car online. I want you to see, drive and inspect the car before you decide to buy it and for that we need a legal
business-specialized company to handle the entire process for us. We will use eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection (VPP).

You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and inspect it eBay will
release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected. If you will not be satisfied with the car, you can refuse the car and ask
for a full refund of your deposit, no questions asked. I will find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to send the car back.
I am willing to handle the shipping. It will be shipped by plane with US Air Military Cargo and it will not cost me anything.
You will receive the car in about 4-5 days. The car will arrive at the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your
place.

The deal WILL BE MADE UNDER THE eBay Motors RULES AND POLICIES. Both of us will be protected. I WILL NOT DEAL OUTSIDE EBAY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

1st Lt. Zachary Thomas

Being a retired Military member and having been stationed in Europe, the supposed 1st Lt. Zachary Thomas' story is a complete and utter falsehood. Furthermore, the use of Military Aircraft to transport "his" personnal vehicle is also false and illegal.

After reading his email, I researched the infomation provided and discovered that the so-called 1st Lt. Zachary Thomas has done this in the past, only in my case, he used a different phone number.

It is utterly disgusting that individuals will pose as military members to garner the confidence of potential, unaware buyers.
