1st National Card Service, Fraudulant credit card company Largo Florida
This company called my wife with an offer for a "credit card" with a limit of 4,000 dollars. During the entire conversation with the rep, it was not made clear that this "credit card" could only be used with 1st National's catalogue. The only time it was mentioned during the conversation, was at the very end of the call, and it was said so quickly that my wife was unable to hear the limitation. In addition, it was explained that after your very first payment, you could take a cash advance of up 50% of the cards limit. What a deal, pay $200 for a credit card and get $150 worth of vouchers back, to pay your first bill.
When we received the card, we were understandably upset. We called 1st National, and they assured us that my wife had been informed that the card was only good with the catalogue. My wife asked for them to play back the recording of her phone call. The girl spoke so quickly at the end, that we had to have them slow down the call to be able to hear the one sentence that said this card was a only good with the catalogue. They "buried" the sentence in the middle of a lot of legalese disclaimers. Technically, we were told, but it was done in a very shady manor.
We asked for a refund of our 200 dollars, and they refused. They said we could get a refund of 50 dollars. We asked what they had done to earn the 150 dollars, and they said they went to processing fees. They must be the worst processors in the world if it costs them 150 dollars to send out one credit card.
Then, we decided to keep the card to use once every three months being sure to only use 60 dollars to get some junk from their catalogue. Well, the first time we attempted to use the card, we were informed that we could only use our 250 dollar credit for a portion of the purchase price. We had to foot 30% of the bill! Needless to say, we were very upset again. We are very certain that stipulation was NEVER mentioned during the phone call.
This company is scamming people out of their money 200 dollars at a time. I hope they get what is coming to them, and I hope some people actually get their money back.
