1Way2Move Dishonest practices fraudulent irresponsible management moving company North Hollywood California
After reading about another consumer's horrible experience with this company, I felt compelled to respond. I was awoken this morning by a phone call from the movers at 5:50am to inform me that their truck has yet again broken down and they do not know when it will be fixed.
I went with this company because in addition to a low estimate, they also told me I would receive my items within 7-10 days from CA to IL. I was weary of this so I confirmed several times with Melissa of 1way2move and she laughed at my surprise and stated that yes, my things would be in IL within that time. 22 days later, I am still waiting.
I wish this was the worst of it. I was initially quoted at 494 c.f. after an inventory of my items. I live in a small one bedroom with very minimal furniture. In fact, when the movers came, I decided not to move a large desk, desk top computer monitor, computer, and monitor desk. Yet interestingly, I was 235 c.f. over what I had estimated. Let me state that this the news of the increase comes after everything is moved into the truck decorated with graffiti. Apparently there was a large hole in the top of the truck, so the mover used cardboard boxes to patch up the hole and asked us to watch as he measured the space in a manner we could not follow and deducted it from our total c.f. Right.
What the company does not indicate in any of their confirmation emails or even in the initial estimate is that the rate of the estimated items is $3.70 per cubic feet. What they do tell you is that "anything over the estimate is $6.00." However, unless you are diligently doing the math, you don't realize the vast difference between the first and second cost and the company leads you to assume there is not that great of a difference.
When everything was packed in, our quote of $1827 was suddenly $3294. I was horrified and asked the mover to stay as I contacted the manager. Here began the saga of 8 days straight of calling several times a day and multiple emails trying to get a hold of Ron, the manager only to fight with Melissa, Heidi and Louise, who appear to be the only ones who work there. At the time of the move, seeing as I was not going to be able to talk to Ron, I had no choice but to write the check and allow them to take my stuff, as I was on a tight schedule.
After much effort on my part, Ron finally called me back and to his credit, reduced the rate from $6 to $3.70. He assured me my things would be here around Tuesday, and it is now Thursday and the movers have called to say their truck broke down and don't know when it will be fixed. Oh, and suddenly their 7-10 days/21 day guarantee has shifted to 21 "business days," which I specifically clarified with Melissa and was told it was 21 days. When I refuted this, I was simply told that it states 21 business days on my contract.
Basically, they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your business, then deny saying these things later. I strongly advise you go with a reputable company and avoid a similar experience. I honestly don't know how these people sleep at night.
