Here is a copy of my complaint to 24 hour fitness I sent on 07/10/06:

I am very frustrated. I've spoken to at least 6 different repesentatives with 24 Hour Fitness. I canceled my membership back in late February early March 2006 yet I'm still receiving statements. I made my last quarterly dues before my last quaterly dues were due in February. I spoke with another represantative in May and spoke with a Laurel or Lauren (Ext. 4139). I explained my situation and she informed me that she would stop the phone calls and letters to my home. She informed that I wouldn't have to pay the $93.00 from my May 6, 2006 statement.

Well, I thought everything was okay until received another statement from 24 hour fitness that I owe $54.00 (June 30, 2006 - statement). I called the number on the statement which is 1-888-900-3194 and a representative informed me that my membership was not canceled, and she gave me another number to their cancelation department at 1-866-308-8179. I called that number and waited over a 1/2 hour for representative.

Well, she informed me that she couldn't cancel my membership because I wasn't getting billed on my membership on a monthly basis. So she informed me that I had to call Membership Services at 1-800-432-6348 to cancel my membership because my statements were on a quarterly basis. I informed her that I had already canceled my membership back in late February or early March. She informed that it was still not canceled.

This is very frustrating since I was a member of 24 Hour Fitnes before it was 24 Hour Fitness when it was Family Fitness which was over 10 years ago. At the end of 2005 and beginning of 2006 I became increasing frustrated of the customer representatives. And also the lack professionalism from many of the employees at many of the fitness centers I went to in Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. Thus, I canceled my membership and because I couldn't really afford it anymore especially with high gasoline prices.

I will once contact membership services tomorrow (07/11/06) based on the last phone number I received with the cancelation department. Be for warned that I have made a copy of this e-mail/letter and I will send it to the appropriate department with consumer affairs. Also, here is a link to the rip-off report on 24 hour fitness:

My deepest apologies for raising voice to the last representatives concerning this matter. I don't blame them but I blame those in charge of membership and account cancelations.

Lastly, I never received a response via e-mai or phone call from my last e-mail.

Just tell them to stop calling you. You are not responsible for any past due DUES. Remember they do not have your social sec. #. So they can't come after you or affect your credit. If they keep calling, just tell them that you are notifying them that you dont want to be called anymore because your taking it as harassment. 24hour fitness actually has another company that handles their cancelations and dues retreival for them. Well good luck!!
