Complaint Review: 24 hr Women's Workout Steve Riffle

24 hr Women's Workout, Steve Riffle Anytime Women's Fitness Unsafe for Women, Not Secure, Rude Owner, Unrepsonsive Heath, Ohio

I joined this gym to workout as it was open 24 hours (key card access).  I was given an opening evaluation; however, no specific training program.  The person who did my eval said that the weight machines were "self explanatory" and to do about 15 reps on each one.  I found this inadequate as I believe that the exercises should have been demonstrated to each member at least one in order to ensure safety and effectiveness.  Please note, I was later "informed" (please see below) that this ab machine does "4" exercises...REALLY< I didn't know as it was NEVER demonstrated to me!

I was excited about the 24 hour part until the owner, Steve Riffle, decided to remove the coverings from the windows.  I entered the facility at 3 a.m. to find no window coverings across the entire front.  I left Steve a note and also sent an e-mail.  I wrote the note on the back of one of hundreds of programs which he had on his desk.

This was Steve Riffle's reply to my concerns and a copy of my e-mail:

I felt REALLY unsafe working out at night last night.  With no coverings over the window God only knows who could be watching/lurking.  Ordinarily, with windows covered, they can't tell if there is one car and one or more than one person in the club.  But, now you have the person pratically on display.  WHAT were you THINKING?  The reason Curves doesn't do 24 hours is because they consider it unsafe!
I used your stereo system and CD's last night and, YAY, spent 20 minutes trapped on the bike (or lose my program)  listening to one CD skip....skip...skip
Imagine 20 minutes listening to a scratching sound.  Do you have some BETTER alternative for the music?  I'm going to go out and buy some CD's but I really don't think that I should have to do so.
And, I am usually up at night so I haven't discussed the equipment with you.  But I am still not getting an adequate ab workout and your one ab machine is NOT getting it.  I am aware that there is a machine across the room which works the abs.  But a woman of my weight cannot put ALL of the weight on my arms/shoulders to lift myself and use this machine.  I could separate one or both shoulders and tear one or both rotator cuffs attempting that.  I've belonged to gyms before with really superior ab machines than the one which you have.
I have belonged to many gyms over 30 + years and NEVER belonged to one which did NOT have a leg sled, the holy grail of leg workout machines.  Are you planning to put one in?

Please advise...thanks

The next time you think "someone should..." remember, you ARE someone!

Um, did my letter require that RUDE of a reply and a threat that they are "reviewing" my membership.

Please, save your money.  The club is unsafe for women.  The equipment is inadequate.  The owner is arrogant and rude.  There are a LOT of gyms out there.  Go to one where they care about your safety and the effectiveness of your workout.
