Complaint Review: 24PROTECTPLUS

Debit: $14.95 from merchant 657445000760660 24PROTECTPLUS759541912 800-211-9749 CT

I have never seen this company name prior to it appearing on my statement. Attempted to call the 800 number shown above and received a "press this #" message as follows:

#1 - To enter membership ID #

#2 - To enter the credit card number to which your membership was billed.

#3 - To enter your home phone number.

#9 - To repeat this menu.

I did NOT sign up for anything and did NOT authorize any charges. I do NOT have a membership number. I am definitely NOT giving out my credit card number to someone who has obviously already stolen it somehow. I am NOT giving out my home number so they can try to rip me off some other way. By the way, if I HAD actually purchased a "membership" my phone number would likely be on file. Duh!

The debit card in particular that this was done to is used very rarely, which made this transaction stand out like a sore thumb. So rarely that there were only 4 other debit transactions for the month of January posted. Out of those 4 only one was an online transaction through Ebay's Half.com.

Better yet, I have a very secure PC. I also use Firefox with adblock and script blocking. I don't surf all over the net and typically view the same 1 to 3 websites. So the question remains....how did they steal my debit card number?
