Complaint Review: 3Gplaza RebateOne

On January 2, 2008, under order # 201587, I purchased an Acer Laptop computer, model No. MS2204, from an online company, 3Gplaza. Unit price as $799.99, with $400 rebate. I filed for the rebate by Certified Mail in January 2008 after receiving the computer.

I have contacted 3Gplaza many times, beginning February 21, 2008, about the rebate. Alex told me the rebate was being processed, so be patient.

In April 2008, I again tried to find out about the rebate. The phones were "offline", so I sent an email to Customer Service on April 30, 2008.

On May 9, 2008, I spoke with Edison at 732-358-2027, and he told me the rebate company was processing the rebate, and he gave me their email address. I sent an email to Rebateone2004@Yahoo.com.

On May 12, 2008, I received an email from zackniu 1969011 at Rebateone, who stated "So no worry. You might get your rebate check in June." No check came.

Now, all the phones have been disconnected. The emails I send to 3Gplaza cannot be delivered. There is no more website for 3Gplaza. Rebateone does not reply to emails. They have apparently folded their tents and slipped away into the night still owing me $400.

I feel this was a rebate scam from the beginning designed to defraud me and other consumers, and when the rebate-postmark date expired (04/15/2008), 3Gplaza closed up shop and kept all the rebate money.

This was my first major online purchase. At my age I was reluctant to risk buying from a company I could not see. I guess I was right, but I'm not too old to learn. I positively will not do it again! No more internet shopping for me!
