406 Motoring Jason Washington, owner Unpleasant unprofessional conduct to a consumer Missoula, Montana

My sons had done previous business with this outfit. They returned several weeks later to ask this company to install another audio component for their car that they had purchased from a friend.

The owner Jason Washington was offended by this, and became very agitated and arrogant towards them. At that point, the boys offed to pay labor wages, and the Jason told them they were a complete waste of his time, would not make any money off this, and told them to leave.

The boys will never again set foot on this guys premises again, instead take their business to Blue Ribbon or Aspen Sound in Missoula, MT.

I recommend that nobody do business with 406 Motoring at 1541 So. 3rd street West, or any of his locations in Butte and believe Great Falls, MT. I have also been told to not do business with this company by other business people in Missoula, however no real reason was told.

Now if this business owner was arrogant that is one thing...no customer should be treated with disrespect. However there is occasion when someone does not like what they are hearing, even if it is the truth and take it offensively. And some people just have abrasive personalities known as "cockiness", but mean well and are ethical business people nonetheless.

The business owner may have had a point. The company obviously charges to perform labor..so if they would rather have turned down the job then take the money..there may have been a good reason.

Some of us on this website are automotive professionals. I specialized in automotive electronics. If this owner had a legitimate reason to refuse to install that product..then he may have done nothing wrong..perhaps he did not want the liability if it was some inferior flea market or used or B stock, or refurbished junk purchased on line to save a buck, or maybe it appeared stolen..we do not know all the facts..but it could hold the business responsible for damages or other issues if they installed it.

If the product was new name brand quality, and he was simply refusing because he didn't make the sale of the product..well that is his loss then..because the mark up on labor is WAY more then the mark up on product in most cases. So what kind of audio component was this? And what was it for?..any legal issues or safety issues?

Was it used goods?Off brand? Many times I will refuse to install used goods or off brands because when it comes back in a week not working, or something burned up..the customers always blame the installer. It's like people believe we live in some kind of bizzaro world where electronics never go bad, and nothing can ever break simply because the product was built like crap in China, where there is virtually no quality control, no field testing, and little if any regulations or standards. Add to that the fact it is used..we need to wonder why if it was really any good, that the original owner chose to get rid of it.
