I mean after all, out of thousands of ads you would think I would get at least a couple respones. Also know other people who haven't recieved a dime from them either. I e-mailed them and all I got was an e-mail telling me that they've changed the website for the better. Still no respones to any ads.No one knows the real name of this company and where they are located. Why is it such a secret.

Interesting that I only find out about this report two years after it appears!! The $5 Solution page is strictly a member to member programme. Payments are made by the new member to the member whose page they visit. We, the company receive NO money when a new member signs up at another member's site.

I'm not sure I understand how it can be the company's fault if they don't get responses to their ads?!! The site has now (Dec. 2004) been active since June of 2001. If we were ripping people off, how could we have survived so long?

Since we are not privvy to the details of the advertising campaigns of these members, we cannot say why they got no response but can't see how that can be our fault.

We do not hide our contact info, which is clearly shown on the domain listing. We are and have always been located in Ottawa, Canada

Mari,

The home page for this web site identifies the owner as Roy Wallace from Ottawa, Canada.

That should be your first clue that you are going to get ripped off. No, Canadians are not any more dishonest than the rest of us but many rip-off schemes aimed at Americans are run from Canada because it makes stopping them an internation effort. And this is definitely aimed at Americans: the futtering dollar bills are US currency.

You can find out who owns many websites by doing the following, although somewhere there must be a more direct way to do this:
1. Go to www.dogpile.com (This is a great search engine site)
2. Click on the link marked "Domain Names" near the center of the page.
3. Put the name of the website you are curious about in the box labeled "Find Your Domain Name." Leave off the "http://www." at the beginning and the ".com" or whatever at the end of the website address.
4. Click on "GO"
5. On the next page you will be presented with a list of possible website names. The one you were looking for should be identified as having been taken and will be followed by "(view whois)." Click on "view whois" and a window will open with information about the owner of that domain.

I have only done this a few times but when I did it for 5bucks.justreward.net, the only information that came back was the owner's name -- James Simpson. (Gee, what happened to Roy Wallace?) No street address or email that normally comes back. This same person has also registered the web address 5bucks.justreward.com.

All the other websites I have looked up have had far more information than what is given for this one. The lack of contact information plus the discrepancy in the names of the owner is a good reason to go not get involved with this scheme.
