5 minute rock chip express WORST customer service, DO NOT honor warranties or guarantee, WASTE of time aurora Colorado
This company is ripping off their customers. I took my car in for a very small star chip on the front windshield, very bottom. The rep took my insurance info, after about 30mins on the phone with insurance and their authorization reps, the chip was filled. It was tiny! According to their informational pamphlet/folder the chip repair was covered by my insurance, and would prevent windshield from cracking. I live in Colorado, I've already replaced my windshield twice in the first 2 years. I decided to try 5 minute Rock Chip Express, since the tiny star chip seemed small enough to warrant repair to prevent another windshield replacement. I do not drive on unpaved roads or 4-wheel trails. My car is not 4-wheel drive, and spends most days in the garage. Chip repair was done in OCT 2012. In FEB, my car was parked at offsite airport lot for 5 days. When we returned, it had snowed, frigid temps the night before. I found a crack about 3 inches long coming from the star chip that had been repaired. In May, I went to the mountains, parked the car in the motel lot. That night it snowed lightly and the temp fell below 30F degrees. Again, I woke to find another crack about 3 inches, coming from that same star chip, in the opposite direction. I finally called the phone 1 866 672 4477, on my paperwork, to find that number had been disconnected. No website. I called the "main office" number on the back of the service envelope (253) 460-3046 again, disconnected. I emailed "rockchip@qwest.net" also on the back of envelope. Once again, no reply.
After some investigation on Google, I found a local phone number for a manager? I called, he answered like it was a personal call, and told me I had to take car to location of repair. They needed to assess the nature of the cracks on the windshield. In other words, nothing will be done. A few days later, I drove to the mall on Alameda Ave, near Target where the repair had been done. No tent there. I continued to drive to Aurora Town Center, where I had seen the Rock Chip tent before. The tech looked at the cracks on the windshield, shoved his lead pencil into the crack, star chip and determined that my windshield had been hit again. I explained that BOTH times the windshield cracked were in parking lots, cold temps. Again he continued to state that the cracks were not coming from the original repair. So at this point, I was frustrated, told them I had wasted my time with the repair when in FACT it did nothing to prevent further cracks on windshield. Practically calling me a LIAR!
In any case, he called the warranty rep on the phone who proceeded to tell me the same bull, and they would repair the crack. I told her I would not waste any more of my time. They refused to offer any assistance. I feel they should have paid for a new windshield, since their product did nothing to prevent damage. She continued to repeat the same info, over and over, then asked me to wait while she filed another claim with my insurance. I told her NO MORE CLAIMS will be filed by this company! I finally told her I will replace the windshield myself, and she insulted my intellegence by asking what my deductible was. I just laughed, told her the deductible is way more than the $150 to replace the windshield. I also told her, I'd never come back, never refer anyone, and would make it my mission to go on as many consumer sites as possible to let people know about my experience. They are being paid by insurance companies for shoddy work, and useless repairs. DO NOT use ROCK CHIP for any repairs!!

Thanks. Proof of your poor customer service. And proof ROCK CHIP is a waste of time. Thanks for the 5 months...... it was easier to pay for a new windshield. No crap from you or your company, and lots of time and gas saved by not having to return several times. But thank you for your reply.

Maybe you should have had the repair checked out the first time it cracked. And just because it cracks out, does not make it our fault. You do know, had the repair not been done, it would have cracked out sooner? You should feel lucky you got a repair done that lasted 5 months until it cracked, due to your own actions. Typically, if im going to be taking an airplane, i get someone to drive. If you left your car there for days, thats on you. Also, waiting until it cracked a second time to have it get checked out, is also on you. Your proof of loss form clearly states that the repair is guaranteed, and if ANYTHING happens, like a crackout, that you should immediately get it checked out. Read your paperwork before you sign.
