The contractor (builder according to his license) refused to write out a contract but said he would many times. Rod Reinke does not know what he is doing. He hired two other guys and worked maybe 4-5 hours a day on our home that we lost to a fire. He had more excuses of why they couldn't work than I have ever heard of.  There were many days he didn't even show up. He asked for 50% down and we gave him that (oh did I mention he was a friend?) then asked for $40K more - he received $20K and then again asked for $50K to pay the HVAC, Foam insulation, and drywall.

We gave him $30K.  He started making excuses that he could not find an HVAC company who would come out. I made 2 phone calls and the company was out there the next day with a quote the following day. I gave the go ahead to start and that's when Rod said he had no money. All he did was order windows with that. When questioned, he packed up his tools and walked out! Mind you, with items that belonged to us!  He held our windows hostage and said he would give them to us if we signed a contract! Are you kidding me? $130K and we had a shell of a house with NO windows and no siding! We had studs inside...this was after 10 months of hiring him!

He agreed to meet with us to go over the issues, then while at the meeting, we asked for MORE money ($7,000) to come back! That didn't happen. We never received the windows. He told us they were $8900 and we ordered them from the same place and the actual cost was $40,20.  We paid HVAC $17,720. We paid for the foam insulation, $20,500. The Drwall is $12,00 installed and finished. The siding and window installers are $5,000. We've had to pay this on top of the $130,000 we gave him.

He says the bills are coming in that need to be paid because he put everything on account...he was given the money up front, why was he putting on credit and trying to say we owed him MORE?
