900 Direct Fraudulent billing of 900 phone calls Canoga Park California
I received a bill from 900 Direct in the amount of $522.10 for phone calls that were supposedly made from my home phone. All the calls were made on 5/6/04. I am a single mother raising a son. When some of these calls were to have taken place, I was at work and my son was in school. The remainder of the calls were made late at night when we both were asleep.
I contacted the company at the number listed on the invoice and spoke with a very rude, unprofessional, so called customer service representative. When I asked him his last name, he informed me that he could not give it to me. I informed him that these calls could not have possibly have been made from my home and that this was an obvious mistake. The rep in no uncertain terms told me that it had obviously been my son who had made the calls or someone had broken into my apartment and had made them. I asked him if he knew how rediculous that sounded. I have since received another bill from them saying my account with them is seriously past due and should be paid at once. I have no intention of paying this bill since no one in my household made the calls.
I intend to contact the Better Business Bureau and my local consumer affairs office to inform them of this sham of a company. If anyone decides to take any legal action against this company, please contact me and I will be glad to be involved in some type of class action suit.

Your apartment does not need to be broken into. My police agency has just made several arrests in exactly the same situation (and using exactly the same 900 company) in which the perpetrator broke into the outside telephone junction box and used a test telephone to make the telephone calls. Contact your local law enforcement agency.
