The Kidd Chris Show was an American shock jock radio show hosted by Chris Foley and Thomas Kitajima from 2005 until 2008 in PHILLLY on WYSP. The show started airing on WYSP during the afternoons (3-7 pm) on August 29, 2005, was syndicated to WRKZ in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania a year later, and moved to the weekday morning slot (6-10 am) on November 26, 2007 when the station revived its rock format. In January, the show was second to rival Philadelphia morning show hosts Preston and Steve among men ages 18-34.

On May 16, 2008, the Kidd Chris show was SUDDENLY yanked off of WYSP's airwaves and KIDD CHRIS and his staff were terminated. The action was taken in response to the airing of a song parody described by CBS Radio spokeswoman Karen Mateo as "highly offensive and completely inappropriate for broadcast," which had been performed by a guest of the show on March 21 2008 (LADY GASH). Also Fired was program director John Cook. FMQB reported a possible return of Opie and Anthony, whom Foley replaced when he moved to mornings.

The Kidd Chris show was the Funniest thing to happen to Philly radio since the departure of HOWARD STERN. He had a HUGE following - still does - with all of us waiting on where he will go next. I used to LAUGH so hard in the morning rush hour - it made my day. His material was original and yes edgy, but it was GOLD. He had celebrity guests, hillarious bits, and a wack pack like none other - It made me proud to live in Philly - for once we had a superstar like Howard Stern in our own hometown. NOW WE GOT NOTHING. ITS BORING - ITS THE SAME OLD SAME OLD. I used to COMMEND 94 wysp for taking a chance on the Kidd Chris show because even though it was edgy - its was PHILADELPHIA at heart.

94 WYSP ripped us off - BIG TIME. There's nothing to laugh at in the mornings anymore - NOTHING. WE WERE RIPPED OFF.

What happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!?? I guess advertising DOLLARS rule the world now huh?

That is the way radio is now!!! IT SUCKS, plays the same music, no variety nothing obscure, the DJ's are forced into a monologue provided by the station and forced to follow a horrible music format!! The public caves in because they are stupid enough not to picket, turn off the station so it won't make money, file complaints, etc. The station ownership today is nothing short of BIG BROTHER (Remeber 1984, Orwell) (DEREGULATION) that hire overpaid corporate staffers in Armani suits to play Dream On by Aerosmith over and over and forget the fact that they have about 10 other albums and a bigger music library to choose from other than the same song over and over and over.... you get the picture?

So when your radio station gets rid of something you love, you end up not being able to do anything about it. Too bad no one in the USA is loyal to anything anymore, remember the movie FM? The DJ's took the station hostage so they could please the listners again, and it did, of course that was a fairy tail movie and nothing wonderful like that can happen in real life.

I wish I had the answers to help you but I don't! I am a former DJ myself and very disillusioned with the direction it has taken. If the government would stop deregulating everything, perhaps we could really go back to the GOOD OLD DAYS!!!
