BEWARE!!!!

This Company is desceptive and moves its registered agent around regulary. I Hired an attorney and we are unable to serve a warrant becasue A-City Mover keeps changing players and registered agents.

A City Mover (AKA A City Movers) misrepresented their services/fees and damaged our personal property during a move that they performed on December 30 through December 31, 2001 from our home in Cumming, Georgia to our residence in Charlottesville, VA.

I called A-City Moving and spoke to Michelle on or about December 20, 2001 to receive a quote for moving. After answering questions regarding the items I had to move, I was given a fixed price of $3,000. She also said that the move included complimentary bed setup and washer and dryer hookup. I was never notified of any insurance options or extra charges for packing. I later called back and spoke to Aaron about a competitive bid I had received from Taylor Moving and asked him to discount the price. He agreed to $2,900.

The movers were scheduled to arrive at 2:00 on Sunday, December 30, 2001. They did not arrive until approximately 4:30PM. We were informed our move was the second job they had for the day. AFTER the movers began loading the truck, Mr. Yaniv Blum, crew leader, explained terms of the move which were not disclosed to me before. (Moving blanket rental at $8.00 per blanket; $1 per foot for shrink wrap material, mattresses wrapped for $30.00 each, wardrobe boxes at $23.00 each, etc.) I immediately told them to stop loading the truck. I then had Mr. Blum call the office to discuss the terms. We came to an agreement that A-City movers would not charge me for blankets. I also asked about wardrobe boxes and they said yes, they have them but did not disclose how much they were. We have moved several times using professional movers. Our previous experience has been that movers use and retain blankets and wardrobes on their trucks and it is included in the fixed price. We believe the cost of our move was not properly disclosed. If the hidden charges had been added to the quote initially we would have hired a different company.

We believe that once the crew learned that they there would be no charges for the blankets, they began to shrink-wrap everything. I was not aware of the additional charges at this time so I assumed that this was included. In addition, items that should have been wrapped in blankets were not. Instead, they were shrink-wrapped which offered little to no protection. To show further evidence of dishonesty, we found wardrobe boxes with only 3 shirts hanging in it, and a wardrobe box with the couch pillows in it, which should have been placed on the couch before it was shrink-wrapped.

Once the crew was finished loading the truck, I was given the Uniform Household Bill of Lading and Freight Bill totaling $4,194.00. I totally disagreed with it. Mr Blum demanded a 50% deposit, which I questioned but was told that this is company policy. I asked to be shown the policy in writing but it was not produced. It was now approximately 10:30 PM, my wife and I had been up since 5am packing and we still had to drive all night to Virginia, a 10-hour drive. We were exhausted so rather than dispute it further, we agreed to pay the 50% deposit, $2,097.00 and planned to address it the next day.

When we arrived at the destination in Charlottesville, Virginia, the truck was waiting with a new crew. The crew refused to unload the truck unless they were paid in full. I instructed the driver that I wanted to call someone at his office to dispute the charges. Aaron, the office manager, agreed to discount the balance due to $1,900. So again, exhausted from driving all night, I paid the $1,900, prior to having an opportunity to inspect our belongings.
When the movers began unloading the truck, the driver advised me to get my camera because he noticed that much of the furniture and appliances was not wrapped in blankets and he pointed out to me that this was incorrect.

They proceeded to unload the truck and I took video of the contents. When they were done unloading the truck, I noticed that one of my moving dollies was missing. I asked about this and was told that they did not have it. I saw them load two dollies and I only received one in Virginia. This fact was noted on the Descriptive inventory.

The next day, as we unpacked, we noticed a number of items that were damaged and improperly packaged (See Addendum A). In addition, the furniture was placed in the middle of the rooms and the beds and washer and dryer were not hooked up and assembled as advertised.

We have documented all physical damage with digital pictures and video if needed.

At david stanley ford in oklahoma city ok. They will even before your fianaceing goes though fill and receive a dupicat title to your tradein. Which will void your title to your tradein. So if you decide to not buy a car from them your title is now voided and you pay for all fees and fines. They have done this to myself and many others for more true contact the ok tax commions they have records of everyones compants.

And also they sell a pre-certified ford warranty that they do not uphold their part of the contract. Jeff Codwell is in charge there and he does not help you on this problem he adviods your calls and does nothing to fix the problems.I have contacted David Stanley himself and he does nothing to fix this problem but is aware of it.
