This Medium-sized Italian guy, around 5'8, shave head, blue eyes, wearing a suit and blue tie, whose says his name is DE. Rosa Giovanni, ripped me off in the Mill Valley Strawberry Safeway shopping Center. I was just finishing my shopping and walking back to my car, when, in his supposedly rented grey SUV, he told me he was from Italy and asked me for help to buy his son a video camera. He is on his way to san Francisco airport - he has a 9pm flight. He showed me his plane ticket and passport and a wad of money to show he wasn't poor. Then he gave me a bogus cheaply printed card (I vaguely sensed I wasn't being too smart), which showed himself as clothing rep for an Italian company that deals in Gucci, etc. He claimed to be attending the ARMANI-GUCCI-BOSS_VERSACE Expositions and has to catch the flight back to Italy. He said his boss gave him 4 jackets (2 leather, 2 suede) and wants to buy his son a video camera before he leaves. He doesn't want to take the jackets on the plane cuz he will have to pay taxes. Can I help him out, he will sell me one jacket for $300 but it is worth $ 1,400. I say no, so he throws in the other leather jacket and 2 supposedly (but clearly NOT suede, jackets for men) I say no, so he says $200 for all of them. I say no, then he says we are friends and he wants to get his son a camera. I finally gave him $150 and walked away with 4 jackets I didn't need or want. When I told him the suede wasn't suede, he said, "oh, yes, bolo" I assumed that meant bull or something. Anyway, it was clearly NOT leather, but I though, "OK, maybe I am wrong!"

He shows the jacket, which has all the made in Italian tags printed all over it. The jacket smell like leather. He offered me to touch and feel the jackets, which I did. He thing takes a lighter to the jackets to prove they are leather (who knows? Does that prove anything at all?) I was suspicious, because why would he have to prove the authenticity of jackets that were authentic?

Thanks to this rip-off website,I just realized we got ripped. I am writing this report so that people now that this guy is in the bay area.

I foolishing fell for this guy yesterday in Corte Madera, CA parking lot too!  Heavy Italian accent, dressed impeccably, going to the airport and needing directions...wanting to get an iPad for his daughter before the flight.  We hit it off and before I knew, he's asking what size I wear...and would I like to see some of his exclusive leather jackets?  Sure....I had a couple minutes to spare....just coming from the bank on my way home.  Before I knew it...he's stuffing a bag of 'gifts' for me and my girlfriend...with 5-6 jackets...that looked on the surface quite nice...but I didn't examine them closely....or try them on.  He then askes if I could help him get his daughter an iPad....since he was running short on money.  I gave him $200 and then he asks for more?  I gave him a bit more....and went on my way thinking I had a surprise to share with my gf~  Well...none of the jackets fit...all too small....all acrylic and faux leather....none of them actually were real.  Designs were ok...but nothing I would wear....and I got TAKEN...by a master.  I was gullible...and caught up in the moment.  His email bounced...non existant...BEWARE...this guy is in this area....operating without any hesitation!  I feel stupid...for falling for this scam.

all I had to do was look at the labels and I would've known they were fakes. He drives up in a brand new rental and starts speaking Italian. I tell him I'm not Italian, and he says you look Italian. Then starts to tell me a story of leaving and he has 4 armani jackets that he'd rather not take because of import taxes. Offers me all 4 for $400 and I said no. Then he asks me how much I'd pay. After saying no a few more times. I say $200, so he hands me a bag and starts loading them in and says they're all yours for $250.

He did the same lighter trick and showed me a wad of money too. At least, I've 4 jackets now. I kept the "suede" one and gave the rest away.

It is an old scam.  Of course, it is important to note if a deal look too good...it probably is.

I remember a time when people were more concerned with providing quality merchandise than providing brand-name goods. Perhaps this gentleman would be better served by manufacturing under his own label, than by producing counterfeit goods of arguable quality. Of course, if these are stolen items, then slap the cuffs on and book 'im, Danno.

This is funny...but dude just got me about 30 mins ago in Bonner Springs Kansas. I am cracking me up because I was born and raised in a big city and as a child could spot hustlers and scammers on approach. I need to go back to my home town and get re-educated on such things because I have been in the country way to long since I am falling for this mess. He came with the same story, which I didn't believe anyway but back to Italy and didn't want to pay Import/Export taxes on the goods, ect. He pretended to speak with an accent so I was asking probing questions (why are you here, do you have a business card, why did your boss give these tou you and where is he, what company do you work for) and he just played it off like he didn't understand but got the 4 jackets for $200 and told him I would not pay more because he was talking about Italian Armani and I don't know anything about it because I have never been. Anyway he was driving a little grey rented compact car. He came in my store looking for the Italian community here, which there is none. All I can do is laugh at myself now...I knew while talking to him this was some BS and still did the dumb s!@#. And what makes it so bad is that he said that when he returns next year I have to promise to take him to get some real Italian food since he is giving me such a good deal! Well, I am certain that I won't see him next year, but if for some strange reason I do the next report will be about me to the local police! His appearance has changed, he has grown his hair out and is thinning in the top, his hair is a light brown and the top is with some grey stands. It is what it is, but please rest assured that he will get what is coming to him one day for certain, and I speak this from experience. Anyway, sorry for those that he got in the past and thank you for your reports.

My goodness! Well, we just finished buying 2 jackets from a tall Italian guy, who was on his way to the airport from an expo in El Paso, TX. He happened to stop in this small town PECOS, TX (i mean very small town). I have no idea what his intro was but my father in law called us to go over and check these jackets out. Being a lazy sunday, we went. He told us he was headed back to Midland to airport, showed us his passport and all. My husband agreed to buy his father the Jacket he wanted but the guy really wanted to get rid of the them all so, he first offered 3 jackets each at $100 and he'd give us one free. We said no since we have a trip coming up. But my husband did want to purchase one for his father since it looked very nice on him. So, then he offered my hubby to buy 2 and he'd still give him one for free. Since, my hubby had tried one on and looked very hot in it, I told him to take it. So we did. We purchased 2 and got one free for $200, which is roughly $70 a jacket.

My husband and I were aware this could be a scam but, he (italian dude) never said they were brand name (Armani) so, we did not feel ripped off. We simply purchased some nice jackets for what we think was an ok price. But I laugh at the situation, because he left us a catalog and my first instinct was to look it up online and I find all of these post with the same story. Hahaha...they sure are good and have their story down! At least my father in law got his Christmas present and is happy with his NEW jacket! :)

This guy is in Galveston, TX and was the exact same story/description of the orginal poster. Same grey SUV, same bald "poor" english speaking itallian, with passport crappy business card etc., same lighter trick and today's final offer was 3 jackets for 100 bucks! after starting at 800!

And the story was he was a rep doing a fashion show on the cruise ships so wanted to dump his samples before getting on the plane.

What kind of moron buys things from a stranger in a parking lot? How dumb can a person be? It's either fake, stolen, or both...and people without enough common sense to see that shouldn't be walking around free.

My husband was ripped of by 500$. Too bad I wasn't there with him. He brought home a strip suit and 2 leather (FAKE ) jackets. Then we searched on internet for the brand name and found this site. We try to stay cool and make a joke out of it. But it feels so foolish that my husband is very suspicious person but he fell for a guy.
He said he liked the guy so much he didn't want to bargain. What a beautiful work of the con.
Just a precation: if you have a big event in the city watch out, I think this guy is a team member of a bigger group!

A guy approached my father today with almost the exact same story. This happened in Manhattan, NY. He had a thick Italian accent, Italian drivers license, Armani business card and had a plane ticket. He asked for directions and then said he was a designer and he had a 4 jackets that he wanted to sell before he left back for Italy. Since he would have to pay tax on those items if he was to bring them back, he wanted to sell them really cheap. He said if my father helped him sell a womens jacket that was worth $1200 for $400, then he would give the other ones free. My father said he can't help him but bought one of the leather mens jackets for $60. I know it is fake Collezioni but it looks pretty nice. I really can't complain, it was still not a bad deal.

d**n b***** got me today. he was in a new white dodge Durango he was/acted pretty much 100% as you described. said something about leaving to italy, something about taxes, and something about a mistake his boss made. I fell for it, he said it was Armani, but I became suspicious because Armani is nowhere on the clothes. I'm actually not that disappointed, the jackets are actually pretty nice and high quality. he was asking 350 for 2 leather jackets and one brown suede jacket(he claimed it was all worth $3,100), I told him I don't have that and somehow the price came down to only $100(should of gotten suspicious there).
