Our Admiral freezer door kept popping open. We called the warranty phone number in our manual and the CSR said it was probably the gasket - although the refrigerator is less than 2 years old. She said the service call would be $65 and she could have a tech out the next day. A&E Factory Service handles the service calls for Admiral.

When the tech arrived he could not duplicate the problem and thought that the drawer in the bottom of the freezer might be causing the problem. (Apparently it was sitting out ever so slightly.) His diagnosis on the invoice is "unable to duplicate complaint" and he charged us $91.20.

When I called the local office to find out why the charge was so much more than we were quoted, I was told that we had to pay for labor. I asked how we could be charged a labor charge when the diagnosis was "unable to duplicate complaint" and the tech did not do any diagnostic or repair work? I was told that pushing in the drawer was considered labor and that the diagnostic code determined the charge, therefore, I was not overcharged.

I spoke with Brenda in the local office, who claimed to be a supervisor. She refused a credit and hung up on me.
