I took my sons to A+ Gentle Dental in Oceanside in 2004.

My oldest son woke up in the morning screaming. This was as a result of Dr. Richard Slowey's failure to diagnose and treat my son's tooth #T, which later required extraction.

The sealants placed on my son's teeth by Dr. Richard Slowey had also failed.

The Dental Board of California responded to my concerns about Drs. Slowey, Ambrosio and Oliver of A+ Gentle Dental, dated February 27, 2006, which states,

"The Board's dental consultant has thoroughly evaluated all available complaint information, including all pertinent dental records.

Dental treatment rendered appears to be a departure from the standard of care as follows:

It appears Dr. Slowey failed to diagnose and treat caries on #T, which later required extraction, reflects a degree of negligence.

Six months after initial diagnosis of the patient and about five weeks after the last treatment, #T was abscessing and required extraction.

Although sealant and restorations can fail in the absence of negligence, failure to diagnose and treat tooth #T reflects negligence.

The x-ray survey by Dr. Slowey was deficient in that he failed to take a periapical of #L prior to removal."

Letter from Dental Board of California continues:

"It appears Dr. Ambrosio failed to properly extend the occlusal portion of a preparation to include obvious occlusal decay.

This reflects a degree of negligence.

The two composite restorations placed in #K and #L failed after a short period of time.

Dr. Ambrosio failed to record the use of anesthetic reflecting -- deficient records.

Please note that continued or repeatede acts of this nature could result in disciplinary action taken against your license by the Board."

The cost to repair the above-referenced damages caused to my sons by A+ Gentle Dental was in the thousands and required many office visits to a different dentist.

Dawn the office manager was unprofessional and useless.

Dawn the office manager wanted to offset my concerns by changing the subject and complimenting the color of my hair!?

Dr. Michael Leizerovitz, owner of A+ Gentle Dental refuses to reimburse my family the money we spent to correct his staff's negligence.

Dr. Michael Leizerovitz instead stated in an email dated 05-05-05, that he considers this matter closed.
