bought a truck engine for a 1997 f-250LD (4.6litre romeo)for 1060.00 shipping included, The auto repair shop had called me and told me that they did not have that moter any longer, after haveing my 1060.00 dollars, they had told me they found me one from AP auto parts in newyork but it had 40K more miles on it, AP auto parts had told auto repair shop that was fine but im not going to pay the same price for one with 40K more miles, auto repair shop refunded me 85.00. and i told them to send it.

from there it was A&P auto parts responceabilty to get it to me. I was told i would receive this engine at my house 3 to 5 days. so 8 days later i was beganing to wonder where it was. I called them (AP auto parts) owner said we shipped it. and gave me name of shipping company. Which is his job. So i called the shipping company to find out where it was and when i was going to get it. They told me it has been sitting there for 2 days, come and get it.(70 miles away) from there i had called auto repair shop and told them what was going on,

I agreed to go get it and auto repair shop refunded me 75.00 for shipping problem. and apoligized. (very nice people) i called the shipping company back and told them i would come and get it, they told me they had a truck coming to my town and they could meet me, i agreed. I met the truck at a place near my house, the engine was wrapped and on a pallet and we put it on my truck and i brought it home. I got it off the truck and unwrapped it and discovered it looked like a big pile of rust and broken steel.

there was so much wrong with this engine i could not beleive someone would take the time to wrap it and ship it. I called quilty auto parts and talked to a manager, his name is kurt, very nice guy! I explained what was wrong with the engine, exaust bolts broken off in both heads, a total of 9 out of 16. exaust manifolds where damaged due to long period of broken bolts, throutle body bent due to strapping it to pallet, oil filter adapter not, even there, power steering pump not there, engine sold as COMPLETE ENGINE, fuel rail cut by saw due to taking it out of reckage, 3 spark plugs broke off in damaged heads, mouse house in throutle body houseing, fan not there, fan clutch not there, flywheel bent, due to pallet it was sitting on for shipping, kurt said WOW. and asked what he can do. told him i wanted a refund on what it would cost to repair these things, all he could do is give me 150.00, and told me to call A&P auto parts to see what they can refund for me, kurt has put A&P auto parts on a black list and is no longer getting parts from them, as NOBODY SHOULD!!!

I tryed to get ahold of A&P auto parts by phone and email, by phone i always seem to get disconnected, and they never respond to my emails, A&P auto parts sucks and wish for nobody to go through what i did. I kept this engine for the soul purpose of reporting it to as many rip-off and scam places as i can, I am getting this engine repaired at my own cost and defintley keeping my recipts! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE IDIOTS!!!!!

WHAT A BUSINESS!! Worried about spelling not part

#9Consumer Comment

Seems to me that the paper work i have says that this engine came from A&P Auto Parts 8572 Brewerton RD Cicero, NY 13039, I am the one installing this engine at my shop at home, after spending 659.13 dollars to fix the engine, and for parts that were not even on it when it came, it is now ready to be installed. and this idiot at A&P is worried about spelling practices more than the crap he sells.

The buck stops here

This is rather strange. Why would the complainant have the engine shipped anywhere except to the shop that would install it? This is how you should do it, make a "furnish and install" deal. The shop obtains an engine from [somewhere] and puts it in your truck. If it is no good, then the shop has to deal with [somewhere] and resolve it. You don't care where [somewhere] is. It is not your problem if [somewhere] is disreputable. You just tell the shop "Put a good engine in my truck, or give me my money back."

The A&P representative makes a good point that you should be dealing with the place that you paid the money to. This is the "buck stops here" theory. If your local "very nice" shop decides to deal with a shady far-away operation, it becomes their problem when the merchandise proves no good. Not yours. You just get your money back from the shop if they can't obtain the part you ordered.

With that said, watching the A&P guy offer no possible resolution and instead tear into Mike's spelling is all I need to see to know to never do business with A&P.

You are obviously an ignorant, uneducated individual judging by the foul language and ridiculous statements you used in your emails to us. It is unfortunate that you are displeased with what you bought from Quality Auto. You claim that we are black listed by them, and that they will not purchase anthing from us. If that is the case, then the 10+ emails received DAILY from them to us requesting parts must be how they black list someone. You are obviously angry, and have your own twisted view of the situation, but maybe you should have actually tried to get ahold of us before you chose to post your problem here. Our warranty department would have been happy to arrange for any repairs needed, replacement of parts, or refund. Unfortunately for you, you have not attempted to make any contact with us until three days ago, when you decided to call us idiots and used the "F" word freely in your emails directly to us. In light of that, we will not chose to deal with you in any way for any warranty issue concerning this part. After all, you, Mike Daniels, NEVER purchased anything from us.

I do have paper work showing that this JUNK engine came from YOUR JUNK YARD!!! The problem with this engine is not Quility Auto Parts fault. They also trusted you, as i did, and got screwed to. No normal person would sell this engine, they would throw it in the garbage!!!!

First, I have never received an email from you until yesterday. Second, there is no record of a Mike Daniels EVER purchasing an engine at A & P Auto Parts. You purchased an engine through Quality Auto, 7856 West Side Park Drive, Mobile, AL 36695.

Their phone number is (251) 634-8239. Perhaps you should contact the person you paid the money to and deal with them. We have had absolutely no contact from Quality Auto concerning your purchase outside of an order that Quality Auto placed for an engine that you may or may not have.

I challenge you to produce an invoice that shows you personally purchased anything from A & P Auto Parts. As a supplier to the company you purchased a part through, we are solely responsible to Quality Auto for any warranty issues, not to a third party consumer.

As for any extended delivery time, I have contacted the freight company and looked into this issue. The freight company that carried this shipment from my door was New Penn Motor Carrier, and the PRO# for that shipment was 18-508022. They transferred it to another carrier, Alvan, whose PRO# was DT135643. After talking to New Penn, and them talking to Alvan, it has been brought to my attention that the shipment, that left A & P Auto Parts on 2-10-05 and delivered on 2-17-05 (7 days, not 8 or more days later), was held up in delivery due to the consignees issue (consignee being you, Mr. Daniels).

Apparently, Alvan contacted you to make a delivery appointment, and you were unable to get your shipment out of the truck that would have delivered it right to your door. This is no fault of anyone but you. So, whatever extra time it took to get this freight delivered to you would be your responsibility, and no one else's.

Apparently, the trucking company went out of their way to get this into your hands.

As for any alleged issues with the motor you purchased from Quality Auto, there has not been any contact from Quality Auto that would give us reason to believe there was any problem. If you allegedly received an engine in the condition that you stated, you would be a fool to keep it.

Any reasonable person would have sent it back to get a refund. If you had actually contacted us at any time, and talked with anyone here, we would have arranged to have it picked up and brought back to us. But, you claim that you could not get in contact with anyone here by phone or email.

With several phone lines, and 9 people answering phones, as well as email being read and answered daily, I find that impossible to believe. If that were actually the case, one would think you would have contacted the people that took your money, Quality Auto . I, therefore, come to the conclusion that you have exaggerated this issue because of your displeasure.

Though most people do just exactly that, perhaps you should direct your attention and energy at the company that you paid, Quality Auto, and not their supplier. After all, if you were to buy something at a retail store, and there was a problem with it, who would you contact, the store, or their supplier????

If you say the supplier, maybe you should contact Ford Motor Company as well, and express your displeasure to them. After all, they made the part. If you think that is a foolish thought and a stupid thing to say, consider all that you have said and make the comparison. You have directed all of your attention at a company you have NEVER had and contact with, rather than the company that you have paid money to.

It is unfortunate that after Quality Auto had refunded you all but $100 of their profit, they decided to pawn you off on us. Just for your information, they paid us $800 for an engine, and charged you $1060 for it. Then gave you $160 in refunds. Making their profit $100. At which point, they did not want to deal with you any longer.

That is their prerogative, but not necessarily how it should have been handled. Respond to this if you would like, that is your right to do so. However, just a little more information for you:

response is not spelled "responce"
motor is not spelled "moter"
having is not spelled "haveing"
throttle is not spelled "throutle"
housing is not spelled "houseing"
tried is not spelled "tryed"
in your context, sole is not spelled "soul"
receipts is not spelled "recipts"

Maybe you should try using the spell checker on your computer if you are unaware of how to spell those words correctly. Have a nice day.
