This company (AA Auto Waranty) sold me a auto wartanty for my 2002volkswagon beetle. I specifically asked them if the engine and transmission etc. were covered- and they said "certainly". I recently had a major engine malfunction that will cost me $3000.00 and I filed for a claim . I was denied! They said that since the cause of the problem was a broken timing belt, that it wouldnt be covered. They claim that since the timing belt isnt covered, the engine damage wouldnt be covered. The timing belt wasnt due to be changed until 105,000 miles. I broke at 90,000 miles. This company also said that I could cancel at any time and they will pro-rate the waranty and refund it back to me. This was also a lie. They said that my particular waranty was non-refundable.

I am not Honestabe, believe me. And I can't figure out if what Mikec wrote is true, or a complete lie. I don't think anyone could actually rotate after sitting on their own thumb. I think it's only possible if you drive a luxury car. Like a Lexus. Know what I mean? As far as the actual complaint, it had nothing to do with me until Mikec decided to insult me. We all know who Mikec is. Only one person would do that before he thought about it. And for future reference Mikec. When you try to answer a complaint, I think that saying "This is BS, AA Auto Warranty Is the most respected name in the industry", and attacking the person who you "think" did it, without ever actually mentioning the complaint is probably not the best way to go about it. Thanks for insulting me though!

To begin with, Honestabe or Honestable as you call him is not an "EX" employee of AA Auto Warranty. He is not disgruntled nor is he on the unemployment line.

It is funny when I look at who the rebuttal was from and it says Newark Delaware. I challenge any of the Rip Off Report reading public who might happen to live close by to there to put this address in their navigation system. 560 Peoples plaza in Newark Delaware. Let me know if you see any employees of AA Auto Warranty. You won't find anyone there at their corporate address. That is odd huh...

As for your rebuttal to Mr. Poindexter, timing belts ARE covered under most warranties. If it breaks before the manufacturer's recommended change for the timing belt, it is covered. If it breaks after that interval and it was not changed it is not a covered part. The warranty Mr. Poindexter purchased unfortunately does not cover timing belts. You also say " (a.) no extended warranty, including this one, covers rubber parts including belts." That is also not factual considering many warranties cover tires. And rubber parts would be covered in conjunction with a covered repair. While it is true Mr. Poindexter that a problem with the warranty should be directed at the administrator, it is not your fault that the salesperson lied to you telling you that the warranty was a pro rateable one. Also any honest and legitimate broker should be there after the sale to help you when you need them. This is something that happens on a regular basis here at AA Auto Warranty. As I said before, they will say anything to get you to buy a warranty.

Mr. Customer Service Manager, you said and I quote "We believe the rebuttal by 'Honestable' was actually entered by a disgruntled ex-employee who, while he has some things correct, has many 'facts' wrong." Please tell me and the Rip Off Report reading public exactly what was true and what I supposedly LIED about...We truly need to hear this one. Are you telling me that autowarrantyresearch.com and autowarrantyshopper.com are not affiliated with AA Auto Warranty? Does AA Auto Warranty not have two BBB reports? By all means please tell me what 'facts' I have wrong.

It looks pretty pathetic when "Mikec" needs to say he is from Brooklyn NY. I guess there isn't enough control there to keep vulgar language using employees from attacking Mr. Poindexter and Honestabe. We all know AA Auto Warranty will not send "Mikec" to the unemployment line.

Non-covered parts and consequential damages

#10UPDATE Employee

Mon, June 29, 2009

First, AAAutoWarranty apologizes to Pete Poindexter and the RipOffReport-reading public for the disrespectful language this complaint has generated. Mr. Poindexter has a legitimate complaint which we will address.

We believe the rebuttal by "Honestable" was actually entered by a disgruntled ex-employee who, while he has some things correct, has many "facts" wrong. Perhaps his lack of understanding of our business was a major contributing factor to him no longer working here.

We also believe the next rebuttal by "Mikec" was actually a misdirected and unnecessary attack on "Honestable" by a current employee who, when he is identified, will likely join "Honestable" on the unemployment line.

Pete Poindexter's complaint is legitimate. Volkswagen does recommend a timing belt change interval of 105,000 miles. His timing belt did break at 90,000 miles and, because his is an "intrusive" engine, did cause additional damage to his valves. This claim was not covered by the warranty because according to the terms of the warranty contract (a.) no extended warranty, including this one, covers rubber parts including belts. Rubber parts by design eventually wear out or deteriorate and must be replaced. And (b.) this warranty does not cover consequential damage caused by a non-covered component.

We call attention to the website http://www.myvwlemon.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000061.html . It starts with someone saying the timing belt broke on his VW at 102K miles and, since VW's powertrain warranty ends at 100K, VW would not cover the repair under warranty. VW techs say that because the factory powertrain warranty ends at 100K miles, it is foolish to wait until 105K miles to change the timing belt. They say no rubber belt will last 100K miles, and recommend preventively replacing it at 60K or 80K miles, as all other manufacturers recommend.

But how would anyone know if their timing belt was at risk of breaking before 105K miles? If you use the car primarily in a hot or dusty environment (like Southeast Texas) you can assume your timing belt is under above average stress. If you bought the car used and don't know how it was used or cared for before you got it, you may assume it might not have had perfect care.

Regardless, claim approval or denial decisions are not made by AAAutoWarranty. All claims are processed by the warranty administrator. If Mr. Poindexter is dissatisfied with a claims decision, his complaint should be directed toward the warranty administrator, and not to us.

And last, all warranties come with a 30 day full refund guaranty. After 30 days, the customer can still get a pro-rated refund. At the time Mr. Poindexter bought this warranty, the webpage describing it said it could not be canceled after 90 days. The administrator of this warranty considers the sale to be final after 90 days and will not give a refund after that. It is the customer's responsibility to do his due diligence when he buys the warranty, and even after he buys, buy after 90 days the sale is final.

Your language speaks for itself. You call yourself the most respected name in the industry? Who can respect someone who responds with vulgar language. You BBB record is only a "B". They have numerous complaints regarding your company, including mine. I have two other cars that have extended warrarties and they have always come through with me. Your company lied and mis-led me.

They are rip offs...

They train their salespeople to lie. In every way possible they mislead the consumer. I have no doubt in my mind the salesperson lied. They are commission based salespeople, who if they don't hit their 'quotas' will get fired. There is a reason why they do not show you the price online. When you fill out the quote request, it says someone will call you shortly. This used to not be the case. They used to show you the full price. The reason is that the salesperson can now ask whatever price they choose because it will increase their commission. Then if you object to the price, they can show you a big 'discount' to buy it. Then they also dupe the consumer with a website called Autowarrantyresearch.com. AA Auto Warranty owns it. The 'editor' of the articles is an employee who works there. His real name is only a few letters off the name shown in the articles. If you look at the site, you will see two warranty brokers recommended. AA Auto Warranty and Auto Warranty Shopper. Both are AA Auto Warranty once again. You won't find a number to call on the Auto Warranty Shopper site. There is a reason for that. Put a quote request in for them and AA Auto calls you back. AA Auto also has two Better Business Bureau pages. One in Newark Delaware and one in West Deptford NJ. Now you ask why would they do this? Because thay only have a 'B' rating on their main one in Delaware. They show the NJ one to consumers so it makes them look better. While it is true they have maybe a half dozen or so companies for warranties, they go through them very quickly. Always changing companies. They will tell you it is because they are constantly researching to find 'you' the best company. When in fact they get such a bad rep with these companies that the administrators let them go...Even if your car qualifies for bumper to bumper coverage, the salesperson will offer you a product warranty because they can make more money with it. They offer some kind of 'choice' coverage through a company called CDWS. That is what they tried to sell me and it didnt fly. Why? Because the salesperson never told me it was a product warranty and three weeks later a box with tablets to put in my car came to my door. I am not putting those in my BMW. I asked many people and companies for this info. Choose wisely before dealing with a company like this. La
