On October 3rd,2008 my transmission locked up in neutral outside the UPS store on Hollywood Blvd. I was late to work, frustrated and stranded. I knew what this would mean to my wallet. The problem when a transmission malfunctions is that a consumer can not visually confirm what the problem may be, you have to accept what the mechanic tells you. I knew that it could be a problem as simple as a broken or twisted shift cable, no more that a few hundred dollars. But I knew a crooked shop could easily tell me I would need a new or re-build the old one. That can cost from $2000 to $2800. I had a fellow employee pick me up.

From the office, I checked the BBB, Fla Dept of Agriculture & Consumerism and generally any recommendations good or bad I could find for a Ford dealership or shop to fix my truck 2001 Ford Escape. Every Ford dealership in Broward had a D to F rating with the B.B.B. But I found the AAMCO in Hollywood,Fl that seemed promising, they had a B-. So I checked into them further and found a complaint on this sight. With some concern I called them and spoke to Linda who along with rest of the shop turned out to be a terrific, professional group of people. Within five minutes of conversation she had on the other line called and had my truck scheduled to be towed to their shop, for free. Thinking nothing is free I waited for the bad news, the estimate. I was called by the owner, Robert Romano on Monday morning. He told me I was lucky that I had brought the truck to his company. Having cynical thoughts, I let him continue. He immediately told me it was the cable and that he would have the part from Ford there by that Monday afternoon and the truck would be ready fro pick in a few hours. Total cost with including the free tow, $338. That including changing the transmission
. Thank you for the incredible service. It was pleasure running into a honest merchant. If anyone has any doubts, contact me and I will fax you my receipt. Kind regards, Jim.
