Our Chevrolet Tahoe had the transmission go out a few days ago, June 2016. We called Aamco and they picked up our Tahoe from our home and told us they would tell us an estimate in a day or two. A man named Steve called us and said that the Transmission needed to be rebuilt and since they already had it taken apart, he suggested we also get the rear main seal replaced because he said it had a minor leak and we might as well get it done now. We agreed based on the suggestion and also added that they repair our A/C since it went out as well. They didn't get back to us for a couple of days so we called and he was very rude and condescending and short with us. He said it wasn't ready and he would call us when it was or if we wanted we could get it sooner and not do the A/C yet.

We said no we will wait til it is all complete. He ensured the rear main seal had been done and the transmission will be done with a 3 year warranty. We agreed. I have been driving the Tahoe for a couple of days now and the Check Engine Oil Level light came on. I got home and my husband checked and it is bone dry! I cannot drive my truck now with no oil thanks to the careless technicians and not putting oil back after they drained it. We didn't think to inspect it because they made us pay before they even gave us the keys or showed us where the truck was so we signed, paid, they handed us the keys and we left because we figured being Aamco they wouldn't make such a huge error. After looking over the paperwork, they also did NOT do the rear main seal like they were supposed to!

Their lines are recorded and we know for a fact we had the conversation over and over about agreeing to the suggested repair to the rear main seal and that it was all fixed and ready to go when they called us to pick it up. So now $4,500 later we cannot drive our truck! Being a United States Marine Corps family, this was a huge expense with an expectation that it would be a good investment in order for our paid off vehicle to continue to last throughout the years. We are absolutely horrified they did this to our family as this was the main vehicle that we transport our children in and they have summer sports camps that they cannot miss or be late to. There could now be engine damage etc and this is absolutely so unfair and devastating to us!

Rebuttal to USMCfam2001

As the owner of Aamco Temecula, I have been informed of a complaint that was posted by our customer Nicole (USMCfam2001) on June 28th, 2016. The complaint was posted before our customer even contacted us, or gave us a chance to clarify or correct any issue there may have been.  As it turned out that there was no issue. So I am compelled to write this response.

I called our customer Nicole, on the morning of Thursday July 29, 2016, after learning from my manager Steve that she had called earlier that morning.  She indicated that the engine oil light had come on in her vehicle and when checking the oil level didn’t get a reading on the dipstick, and therefore assumed we must have drained her engine oil, which in fact we did not drain. She was also concerned that we had not replaced her rear main engine seal, which we in fact did. The documentation of the seal was inadvertently left off the final invoice a simple clerical error.

During the conversation with Nicole, I explained to her that when a vehicle comes in for what is a transmission problem, which is why her vehicle was brought in, that as a normal practice we don’t check the engine oil level, which we hadn’t done in this case, since she had a transmission problem, not an engine issue.  I further explained that in performing the scope of work we did for her, we would have no reason to drain the engine oil.

I also advised her that I was able to verify the facts, by talking to the technician that performed the work on her vehicle, and confirmed that he had in fact replaced the rear main engine seal.  I also verified that he had documented as such on the work order.  I also verified that we had purchased and received a new seal for her vehicle, with the proper work order number referenced on the purchase order, even though we inadvertently left the line item for the seal off her final invoice.

After talking with Nicole and clarifying everything that transpired, she thanked me for calling and explaining the above.  In closing I told her that she or her husband were free to call me if they had any further concerns or issues. To date I have received no calls.
