I own a Mazda 626. I took my car to Aamco in Shawnee, Oklahoma to have the transmissio rebuilt. I was quoted a price of $1500.00. It took them 3 weeks to rebuild it. In the end it cost me almost $1900.00. Five days later I was 3 hours away from my house and the transmission went out again. I had to pay someone gas money to drive me 3 hours home and for them to get back home.

It was on a Sunday so Aamco's office wasn't open, nor could I get a hold of their warranty service to find a tow truck to come get it. They towed it the next day to an Aamco in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That Aamco said that the battery connection wasn't right and he transmission wasnt getting power.

Three day later, they woud not bring my car back to me which was 2 hours away from house. During this time, I had to have a rental car, which was supposed to be covered by their warranty. Most of it was, but not all of it.

Two weeks later, the transmission messed up again. I took it back to them. They said the overdrive buttn was bad and, once again, i had to go through the rental car deal. Which all together the rentals have cost me almost $200.00, plus time off work.

It is now a month later, and my transmission is messed up again. I will have to take an hour off work to take it to them and go through the whole rental car thing again, not knowing if it will be fixed this time either. All together, what should have cost me $1500.00 has cost me almost $2600.00 by now.

I'm thinking, if I pay that much for something, shouldn't they do it right the first time, or even the second?? And sholdn't they be bending over backwards to do what they can just to keep their customers happy, or give me my money back so i can take it to someon who will fix it right?

On May 14, 2001, I called Aamco at 9:45 a.m. and talked to Billy. He said Debra was gone because they had a lot of problems and complaints with her and that he was now the manager. I asked him for all the copies of paperwork for everything that had been done to my car. He said I should have copies of those. I said that I had the first invoice and receipt but that was all that was given to me. I didn't receive any paperwork for the 2nd and 3rd time they had my car. He refused to give me copies of any paperwork. He said that if I would bring the car back in, he would fix it and agreed to pay my rental for a mid size car.

I called Billy back again on May 15, 2001 in the morning. He said he would call Enterprise and see they had a mid-size car so I could leave work at 4:00 and take my car to Aamco and have the rental for me to get back home. He said he would call me back and let me know. He never called so I called him at 4:00 and asked if he had called Enterprise. He said no because he had just seen that I had reported Aamco to Rip Off.com and said he was not going to set up the rental car, that I could do it myself since I was such the business woman. He was very rude. He threatened me with a lawyer because of this report because of the "misquotes" but would not go into detail about what he thought I misquoted. Now I'm supposed to take my car back to someone that's pissed off because I reported their negligence and rude customer care? I have 3 children that travel in this car and two are handicapped. I think as a consumer, I have the right to make a report when I am unsatisfied with the service I am receiving.
