In october of 2011, I Took my 99 dodge ram truck to aamco in Patchogue due to a no shift condition. The salesman named Tom told me it could be something small and that they had to open the transmission on the bench.

They took the tranmission out and told me in needed almost everything! they charged me $3072.09. I had to pay it. I had no choice. The truck was on the lift and my transmission.

To sweeten the deal, tom told me that he would throw in the rear main seal and upgrade to the high quality torque converter.

Jump to July 24, 2014. 2 !/2 years later, truck transission completley fails. Will not shift. I took it back to aamco, Luis ( new salesman) told me it needs  complete overhaul. I told him you guys already rebuilt it.

He said the warrrantee is over and that I ould have to speak to Bobby,( the smooth talking Indian owner) adn hung up on me. ( after two ohone calls)

Bobby, the indian owner told me that he would only charge 70 dollars/ hour for labor instead of the usual 90.

I asked him how a transmission rebuild cannot last 20 thousand miles. which is the mileage on the truck since the last rebuild. He asked me how an American can by a 40 thousand dollar truck and only have a three year warrantee/ I asked him what was his point was. He said things happen.

I immediately took my truck home and planned to write to aamco. You cannot contact aamco, you will get diverted to the indepently owned shop.

Just as an aside, I purchased a brand new transmission from the dodge dealership for 2150.00 and 500 bucks to swap. with a 3 years warrantee. I urge everyone to investigate a cheaper newunit.

Never go to aamco.

I have to agree with TYG. It sounds like a complaint about not getting it your way. Technically repair lasted as long as the warranty did and your way out of warranty. It really doesn't matter if it lasted or not. you should of shopped around and done your research. I am not affiliated with the company in question in anyway. I am on here as a honest automotive technician to actually help people that need it. It just gets frustrating to see people who complain about things that basically come down to them not doing research. You should of asked questions from the very beginning getting ball park figures of repairs and would of found out then what you were dealing with. I know for a fact that when Ammco discovers that the transmission needs internal repairs that they tell you that they have to remove the transmission to inspect it on the bench. Which you yourself even stated in your report. So why not then start asking what the overall repair might cost ???  You then could of done research and found out that dodge offers a transmission for cheaper with a longer warranty. I have seen tons of people do this and never have a problem. Don't get mad at me like you did with TYG. I am making a valid point about research and things happen , in your case they did what they promised. They built a transmission that lasted the warranty time.

my transmission has failed after 20 thousand miles of driving and spending  3,072.  the aamco sales duochbage luis tells me that it needs new clutches and internals. the same thing i was told 2o thousand miles ago. The indian or pakastani owner was so apologetic at first- he knew, he even asked me why i didnt see him when the first job was done. What an incredible a*****e.you are the owner why should i check with the owner after dealing with your agent that works for you. you are unaware of what your people aredoing?

from your rebuttle, you work at aamco or some other loser auto repair shop, probably midas or pepboys, so you would have to protect your crooked dealings and poor repairs. mechanics are a dime a dozen and they will always blame you guys and hire another d****e like you to take his place. aamco actually blamed everything on this guy called tom, who conveniently is no longer there.

i posted this to inform others befoe they go to aamco and experience the same not to be harrassed by current or former aamcoo loosers.

enjoy your life. try to feel goodabout what you do. if you dont feel good about what you do--change it

Sorry but Im not buying your report. All it sounds like to me is that you are mad that you no longer have a warrenty and the last shop to do the work on it isnt going to rebuild your trannie FOR FREE!!!! Self-entitled much?? Your warrenty has expired and the owner IS correct in that s**t happens. After 2 1/2 years they are NOT going to rebuild your transmission. Its rediculous of you to assume that they would. This IS a money issue for YOU. Because of the way YOU drove AND maintained your vehicle is what has caused this. If YOU expect the world to bend over and let you screw them, you have another lesson to learn.

Does this suck for you?? YEP!!!! But its unfai of you to expect and assume that they are going to give you your way after so many years. Its unfair of YOU to make a FAKE report because they didnt give you your way. Thats all this is, a WAA report because YOU had to pay for YOUR problem.

Fortunatly THEY have a legal remedy against consumers like YOU who think its perfectly ok to defame and slander a business online all because YOU are a spoiled child. THEY can get a court order and they will know beyond ANY doubt that YOU made this post. NOTHING you do online is actually ANONYMOUS. EVERYTHING you do is tracked and logged. EVERY site you have visited, every email you have ever sent, ect ect ect. Its ALL stored somewhere. Since YOUR NAME is tied to YOUR IP address, all they have to do is see which IP was used to make THIS post. And BAM!!!!! They have you.

Yes the situation BLOWS for you, but THAT is no excuse to deame and slander a business. NOT getting your way IS NOT a justifiable excuse for breaking the media laws. After 2 1/2 years of YOU driving YOUR vehicle it has broken down. What this tells me is that they DID rebuild your transmission BUT there is a DEEPER problem that hasnt been fixed yet. And if you do the math, you will see how you have had the use of your vehicle for over 800 days. In all of that time a lot can happen. So while it may be coincidental that after 2 1/2 years your trannie has broken down, you MAY have to accept that the transmission shop HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR VEHICLE BREAKING!!!
