AAMCO Transmission Louvin Automotive Charged me $2800 for a diagnostic that was to be free Auburn, Washington
Dropped off my car for the free estimate on Friday, came back on Monday and was told I had to pay $2800 for the labor of finding out what was wrong with the transmission. The paperwork I signed said I only authorize an "External" diagnostic at no cost.
When I brought that to their attention, they came back with their copy that has the $2800 clearly written on top of the $0.00. Now they wont release my car until I pay them. They told me that the $2800 is only for labor of taking the transmission apart and putting it back the way it was.

Seems this company is making quite a few appearances in the ripoff report.
usually no reason to tear down the tranny to make a diagnosis. And it sounds like you only wanted the external diagnostics anyway. I cant really tell what your problem was as you didnt list the problem you had. However, this cost prolly exceeded the exchange cost they would have charged to replace it.
Small claims is likely your best route.

It's usually cheaper in the long run to buy a transmission (or a new car) than deal with these creeps.
