Transmission Reverse goes out, slow changing gears. AAMCO looked at my 2000 Blazer, did not remove Transmission, called said it would cost $2,904.08 When back to the shop, looked at the bill for reverse parts- K6100E-LS Kit, Filter, Band-Brake, 11Qts Trans Fluid, Rebuild Torque Converter, Sun Gear Shell, Sprag-Low, Sprag-Forward, Solenoid Kit, + labor $1015..

Transmission was not removed I guess they had X-Ray eyes, to see inside.

That night look at price list on the internet $1,015.00 over retail, that anyone could buy in a part store for less.. Ask them why are you charging $1,015.00 over retail, AAMCO said to.

Also found that the #K6100E-LS Kit installed was the Wrong Kit. Day two leaking, took it back waited 6 hours, I ask what did all of these parts have to do with reverse they were all broken??

Before going to a AAMCO change your clogged Transmission Filter you will save a lot of money. Reverse-slow or not changing gears Fluid 30,000 miles Filter 50,000 miles..

Hello;

I had my trans rebuilt at the Aamco on Sahara, no problems, took longer then I liked, but the sevice was good. I asked about this rip off report. They stated that Bob was another shop in town, that they would never list a "kit" number on a bill.
I was even told that maybe I should think about just trading it in as the value of my car ( 95 neon) might not be worth the repair. I bought it new and wanted to keep it, so I paid the price, Aamco is far from the cheapest, but I wanted a real shop and this shop has been open since 1974 same location.

You are paying for the warranty and the skilled labor not the "kit", I have had no problems with the trans and would recommend this shop to anyone for true and honest repair.

First of all, X-ray eyes are not needed to diagnose a reverse problem in a a rear wheel drive GM transmission. The sun gear strips the sunshell out therefore losing reverse. Furthermore, the other parts you listed are updated components that will increase the "slow shift" you originally complained of. For example, the input sprag has been redesigned for better quality. So in conclusion, the real rip off is GM for selling millions of transmissions with low quality parts. As for the consumer, you need to get your information straight before you throw a company under the bus.

THIS REPORT SHOULD BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY!!!

AAMCO Transmissions

You stated, Transmission was not removed I guess they had X-Ray eyes, to see inside." A good automotive transmission repair technician does not have to "remove" the transmission in order to know what needs fixed. I know a transmission rebuilder that works for AAMCO Transmissions and by driving the vehicle he can tell what is wrong with the transmission. He has been with AAMCO Transmissions for fifteen years. So, your statement is not true that it was a "rip off". Also, I wanted to ask you said that the parts were overpriced. The internet is not "retail" pricing, the internet sells products for less than they can be purchased in stores the majority of the time. Also, if you were in business for yourself you would understand that business have to make money in order to stay alive. It is the same as a catering business, the business marks up the purchase price of food as well as a service charge and labor charge.
