ANOTHER HORROR STORY

I was just on the net doing some research for my parents, who came to visit us in their RV right before Thanksgiving. I saw your horror story about AAMCO.

The transmission went out when they arrived here and they had it fixed by the local AAMCO here in Melbourne, FL (they are from Illinois) to the tune of $2,700.

They didn't drive the RV much, but headed back on Wed., Dec. 1 only to have the transmission go out AGAIN in Jacksonville, about 250 miles away from here. They had it fixed AGAIN by an AAMCO dealer (they weren't charged for the fix but had to pay $60 to get the vehicle towed to the AAMCO). They ended up staying in Jacksonville for 3 days and having to special order some of their medication because they'd only taken enough for the trip and this was delaying them coming home.

I just received a phone call from them from Cadiz, Kentucky where, guess what? The transmission went out again. This time they are in the middle of nowhere at night, except that luckily, there was a 24 hour gas station where they called from. They are 350 miles from home and have decided to try to get a flatbed to tow them home and not risk another breakdown.

I am writing you to request any advice you may have for how they should handle getting the transmission finally fixed properly and getting reimbursed for their inconvenience and extra expenses (especially this 350 mile tow). My instinct, especially after having read your horror story, is to go straight to the top--i.e. write or phone their corporate headquarters and ignore the customer "no-service."

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.

Regards,

Kathie Grant
