My husband had used Aaron's before to get his laptop, but I had never used a rent to own store, now I knew I'd be paying more then if I bought something out right but in our financial situation and our poor spending habits we felt we were better off with a bill. When it came to the last few payments of his laptop we kept trying to pay out and the employees kept giving us different stories about the early payout, one even said there was no such thing as the early payout with Aaron's. The week before his final payment was due I went to just go make the payment to get it over with, the man who helped us of course let us know about this tv that was on "SALE". We always wanted a flat screen and decided to go a head with it, we told him we didnt have the money for the down and he said that was fine in fact he'd make our first payment half off to help out it would just be added to the end of the pay period instead and that it wouldn't start til the month after the upcoming 1st, since it was only a week away.

On the first I only had the money in the account for the final laptop payment ($106) thinking we didnt have to pay for the tv until the 1st of the next month. Our acct was hit with nearly $252 I had to borrow money from my friends and family explaining that there must've been a mix up. That night I read the lease that my far too trusting husband had signed without reading, there wasnt a single thing in there about what the man had SAID he would do. So I took the hit on the nose, but because of that we had a s****.> When I tried to tell the manager of the store we wanted to return the tv he said we couldn't, that it was in our lease that we had to pay for at least 3 mths before returning it. After re-reading the lease, and finding this to be a complete lie, I told my husband this and he tried to call and got a woman who asked if I had yet told him what I'd been told by the manager. She said she had 3 customers in front her and would call him back in 10-15 mins. My husbands sister was already down there to see if they were telling the truth and the two girls who were there were playing on a computer talking to each other not a single customer in sight. My husband and I grabbed the lease and went down there ourselves and talked to the manager personally. He again told us about this 3 month policy.
I showed him that in the lease it states "My initial lease term is for 1 month. On or before the last day of my Initial Lease Term and each Renewal Term, I must either renew this Agreement by making a Renewal Payment or I must return or surrender the Leased Property to Aaron's." He kept insisting that it was a policy that Aaron's has always had, and when I asked "Then why isn't it in the lease?" he got snippy with me and told me "Fine, You don't have to pay. You just can't ever go to any Aaron's ever again." I told him that's completely fine with me. I have learned my lesson I will NEVER set foot in an Aaron's again. Nor will any friends or family members of mine.

They came off to my family and I as con-artists, who say what ever they can to get you to sign the papers then when you can't afford it they don't want to stick to their lease.
