EMERGENCY TO ALL SENIORS!!!
AARP is now backing Secure Horizons as "their" medicare advantage program. BEWARE! Check to be sure there are hospital that are in network BEFORE you sign up! You may be "stuck" with BAD coverage!

In Lee County FL , population over 600,000; there are many doctors listed, However, of the 7 hospitals in Fort Myers; the county seat, NOT A SINGLE HOSPITAL is in network. The doctors that are in network do not have priveleges at the ONLY in network hospital, which is in Leigh, a small town in the northern part of the county, with a horrible reputation.

This information is NOT DISCLOSED to people who are signing up for the plan. The companies response is you can go to any hospital, it will just be out of network. Which of course, cost much more. Out of the 7 hospitals in Fort Myers it is unbeleivalbe that they cannot contact with a single one.

I have contacted AARP as well as Secure Horizons trying to get this issue resolved. However, Secure Horizons claims it may take YEARS to complete a contract. Lee County's population is 50% over age 45, 25% of which is over 65. A Prime target for scamming seniors, many of whom trust AARP to protect them. Secure Horizons claims they have atty's who have reviewed everything and it is legal NOT to disclose the fact that there are NO in network hospitals in the area the plan is being sold, or even the CITY that airs they TV commercials!

People will die. AARP will profit from the endorsement, as will "Secure" Horizons. I was in the indusrty for years, covered with Secure Horizons for 2 years, and only just discovered this. TIME RUNS OUT 12/31/07!
