I am interested in pet therapy, my children are interested in 4-H. We also thought it would be fun to learn to show our dogs. We decided to get 2 cocker spaniels with the quality to do it all. One was perfect for our family needs, the other purchased from Stephanie/Louis (not sure which is really her) has been the complete opposite of what we asked for.

We contacted her from an add we found about a buff female. She claimed champion lines, show potential and a great personality. After explaining our needs she said she sounded like a perfect match. She would be great for showing, pet therapy, and 4-H. She claimed she was calm and already leash trained this puppy sounded perfect.  We drove 4 hours to meet her and at first we were taken back by how small she was. The lady said she was the runt and should catch up. At 8 weeks she was 2.5 lbs.she had not been trimmed so we couldn't see her build or facial structure. We asked what food she was feeding and she said dog chow... and she had not been micro chipped as promised. The kids loved her so we took her.

We drove the 4 hours home and it didn't take long to realize we had been taken. We asked for a laid back easy going attitude, this puppy is hyper and aggressive. She nips at people loves to nip at our faces, attacks my son and the other puppy. After trimming her we found her build and structure are not show quality as promised. She had not been leash trained and the kids refuse to work with her due to her attitude. We ordered her pedigree she had 1 champion who was her great grandpa. After looking up her ancestors none that we found were show quality.

We were told her behavior issues and size point toward her being much younger than 8 weeks and was taken from the litter to early. I tried to work with her for 6 weeks she refused to do any basic commands even though from time to to e she would do one to let us know she knows them just doesn't want to do them , uses the potty in her crate (points to being taught that is OK or had lives in a crate) I really thought she would come around. Our other puppy already knew all of his commands and was a week younger than she was.

I finally came to the conclusion at 15 weeks we were lied to about a lot more than just her being show quality. Her aggressiveness is getting worse and her bad behavior was rubbing off on our other puppy. I emailed the breeder and asked if she would take her back as she is not what we asked for in a puppy. She said my expectations for her to be doing good at potty training and knowing commands were unrealistic. (Keep in mind our other puppy is doing great at these) I could return the puppy but it was clear she had every intention of keeping the $800 we paid for her. Let alone the $300-$400 put into her to get her micro chip, registration, vet visits, ect.I  explained to her why I thought they were realistic based on what we asked for I sent videos of the two pups and difference in attitudes. How she had mislead me and falsely represented the puppy from our first contact. The puppy us not show quality, therapy quality, and since our children refuse to work with her she is not 4-H quality. And to say my expectations are to high when the issue is she lied is ridiculous. She continues to argue until I told her my lawyer will handle her.

In my opinion she is a bad breeder out to make a quick buck. She puts little effort or money into her dogs and puppies then places them young by lying about their quality and attitude.

This puppy was sold as a pet and for 4h showing. Emails show that not only did I reply to her, I offered to let her return the puppy. Emails also show that she received paperwork from my vet showing the puppy was in perfect health. She had unrealistic expectations for ANY puppy, she was mad that the puppy wasn’t housebroken at 8 weeks old, and didn’t do puzzles. She references her vets statements. I asked for proof and she refused it, I was still willing to take the puppy back. She sent me video of her screaming at the puppy because it wouldn’t preform the command she wanted. I hope no one ever sells this person a puppy again. I would’ve never placed my sweet puppy in her home if I would’ve known the real person she was. I tried to get the puppy back for it’s well being and she refused.

Her email: On Mar 20, 2015, at 12:05 PM, Lisa Bond wrote: Hello, We have debated sending this message as we hoped Allie would grow up and be what we were looking for in a puppy. Allie is a good girl she is just not a 4-H or therapy dog as we were looking for. I have tried working with her, she even gets a little more training than Ace because she needs it. She knows them, she chooses not to do them. I thought she needed a little more time as Ace knew all of his commands by 9 weeks. They are 13 weeks and she is still not interested. We have socialized her taking both pups to Petsmart, TSC, and of course the vet. Allie gets excited and barks at the other dogs. I cannot calm her down. She gets mean with Ace and will growl and go after him. She does this to my son as well. I think she has a jealous streak. She refuses to potty outside 75% of the time. She will go where she is whenever she has to go. I am not sure why but when she is on our laps she will nip at our faces, again we have tried to break her of this but she continues.

At the vet last week she weighed 4.5 lbs. I asked the vet if she would catch up to Ace and be able to be shown, he said it is unlikely. At this point we will not be able to do any of the things we got her for. She is up to date on shots, has been on Sentinel for parasites and fleas, and is micro chipped. We have up kept her grooming. She would be good for a family who wants a pet, not a pet they can do things with in public. We wanted to contact you and see if you want her back or know someone who would want her. If not we can try to find her a home. We love her but her temperament is not what we needed for our family. Please let me know where we should go from here. Lisa Bond

My response : On Tuesday, March 24, 2015 9:40 PM, Stephanie C wrote: Sorry for the late reply but I wanted to take this in and discuss this with my vet. He said that all of these traits are normal of a cocker spaniel and that most dogs don't do not fully take to potty training until 6 months old. He also said the nipping is normal for a puppy if you would like to bring her back of course we would take her. He examined her the day before she left and that they were all picture perfect cockers. He said expecting that level of training out of her at this young age is not realistic.

I have notified every breeder I know that you refuse to refund money on a puppy you wrongfully placed, you are on rip off report and I will not stop until you can never sell another puppy with lies.

So as you can see she was given papers from my vet and I offered to take the puppy back. She refused and set out on some personal vendetta against me. My page is ABC Cockers. You are welcome to see my dogs and judge for yourself and I will happily provide any information on my dogs, pictures, pedigrees and health testing. I hope any other breeder that sees this steers clear of this buyer.
