I purchased a Mercury Outboard motor from ABC Motors and Marine of of Ebay Feb 2011. Throughout this whole ordeal I found out ABC Motors and Marine were running scams. The first scam had to do with refusing to provide me a title for the motor I bought from him.

In the State of South Carolina, a outboard motor must have a title. The seller refused to provide me with a bill of sale. I contacted SC Attorney General's office to filed a complaint. It was determined that ABC Motors and Marine had sold me a motor that had several unpaid liens on the title from when the company bought the motor. The business knowingly sold me a motor on ebay with the intent of never furnishing a title.

ABC Motors and Marine had to pay off the loan on the motor they bought and then turned around and sold to me. They violated many laws by doing this they did not properly pay tax on the motor, did not properly title the motor and failing to furnish a title to me after it was sold. State of South Carolina got involved and many months later I received my title once the lien balance was paid off by ABC Motors and Marine.

Second part of this scam came about with regards to paying for the motor I purchased from them through ebay. The owner of ABC Motors and Marine convinced me to pay for the motor through a bank wire transfer rather than Paypal. The owner new that Ebay and Paypal would not intervene if there was a problem with the purchase because I paid outside of paypal.

The problem arose that there was no title or bill of sale sent to me and it turned into a big ordeal getting them to provide proof that they did in fact own the motor. Ebay and Paypal could not protect me as the buyer because of the wire transfer. ABC Motors and Marine, did not want to pay for the fees associated with selling on ebay, so they had me do a bank transfer to avoid any final value fees assessed to the auction.

If it weren't for the State of South Carolina's Attorney General's office I would have been out of thousands of dollars. The State of South Carolina through their investigations revealed that this was not the first time people had problems with this company.
