ABC Stereo.com's mail order stereo scam
I ordered a A/V receiver from these scam artists who advertise in electronic equipment magazines like Sound&Vision. They charged my credit card within a few days of the order. I was very naive, and believed them when they said it was on backorder. 6 weeks of various excuses later, I cancelled the order. They didn't credit anything to my charge card on the next statement, and of course there was never anyone I could speak to when I called, and no one in charge would ever return my calls or letters. I notified my credit card company, who said that because the charge was disputed after 30 days, there wasn't anything that could be done. I wrote Sound&Vision, but of course they keep accepting advertising money from them, while others out there are probably getting scammed also. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE THIEVES. And if you order anything from anyone else, if you don't receive your order, please keep in mind the 30 day window of opportunity that you have with your credit card company, it may be your only recourse if you're screwed.
