Complaint Review: ABC Trainuing Center

ABC Training Center in the Bronx is a health career school. I saw an ad in the newspaper and I went to the school in hopes of a better career. First of all it is located on Fordham road in a rundown building. When I first got there, my mind kept telling me to turn around. But, I went in anyway. The halls were very nasty, there was garbage in the hall and on the stairs. I thought the entire building was the school, but, there were other so called businesses located there. The school looked like it was in one room. The so called receptionists looked scary and mean. I said hello and they ignored me. I said" I have an appointment and they continued to ignore me. I then turned around to leave when this man came up to me smiling.

He introduced himself as the director, Jay Brill, and told me to have a seat. I had to meet with the admissions counselor, Ms. Phillips, to go over the program. She did not crack a smile. She did not look at me. As she was explaining things she kept stopping to answer the phone and talk to friends. I really needed to get a job. I am a single mother of two and I have a voucher to attend this school. So I decided to enroll. The place is very small. There are no computers, no library, no nothing. The receptionist eat at their desk, students eat in the hallway. I forgot to mention the strong chinese food smell as I first walked in. This is very unsanitary. A custodian was in the smoking a cigarette. I thoought smoking indoors was illegal in NY.

The bathroom was disgusting. It is not cleaned. There is no toilet tissue. Women leave sanitary pads around. There is no security. I witnessed a couple of fights which involved two employees. They cursed each other and actual fought. Police wer called. There were actual fights and arguments between the staff and students.

I just found out that students are charged different prices. They charge voucher students more money than other students. After talking with other students , students are charged different prices. The Nurse Tech Program price vried. Some were charged $1,018 and others $1,600 for the same course.

They did not give lab jackets. The EKG machine was often broken. The hot water did not work and we could not wash our hands during practice Blood draws. There was not enough "dummy" arms to practice bllod draws. The Instructor falls asleep when we take exams. He must be on drugs or something. The test are so easy. Everyone passess the test and gets the same grade. He often gives outdated information based. He always avoids answering questions we ask due to his lack of knowledge. Students are not paying attention to him during class. Students ta;k,eat and come very late to class. What a waste of money!!! The ad says "you can get a job as easy as ABC!, but, many people have taken the course and still have not found a job. There is no job placement assistance. They have found jobs on their own through friends e.t.c. I and other students want to let everyone know that the school is a joke! This school is only intetrested in the money. The staff is very nasty and unprofessional. I am going to report this school to the state education department, so they don't steal any more money from people!! Many of the students are immigrants and really are being taken advantage of. Buyer Beware! It's as easy as ABC to rip someone off!!!
