Absolutely READ THE CONTRACT before you put down a deposit.  Although Laura was very pleasant and the dogs seem fine, the contract was ludicrous.  About 15 reasons they can repossess the dog if you are "not treating it well" which is determined by the breeder!  Even have a section regarding allowing law enforcement to enter your home (presumably without a warrant)!  If you can put up with basically co-owning your pet, then fine.  But for this expense and in this country, I expect to OWN my pet, not lease them.  Laura will give you the sad stories about why they have such an intrusive contract, but all their assurances mean nothing if you sign the contract.  If you can handle that, great.  If not, like me, look elsewhere.

The contract was about 8 pages and WAY more involved than the summary bullet points on their website.  $500 non-refundable deposit taken and then WHAM! crazy contract.

Make sure you read the entire contract before you give them any money.  Learned my lesson the hard way, but at least walked away before dropping thousands of dollars on basically co-owning a family pet.

Fully informed potential client backs out on commitment and then blames breeder for his own actions and results of his own choices.

Each of our puppies are covered with a full written health guarantee and contract that helps us to assure our pups are well placed in great homes, gives our puppy owners peace of mind that we will honor our guarantees, and gives us the ability to get the pups out of a bad situation should one arise. We are very open people who are reasonable and easy to work with, and have often gone above and beyond our paperwork requirements in what we offer to work with our clients. Regardless of what comes up we always do our best to simply work things out and take care of our pups and our clients. Unfortunately, in the world we live in today, a well written agreement is a necessity. We are up front in asking each of our clients to read our paperwork carefully, and if they have ANY questions or concerns, to contact us anytime to discuss.

Our website provides over 100 pages of extensively detailed information, including a Purchase Process page and a Sales Policies page that provides a summary of our contract/guarantee terms - and very clearly indicates "Please contact us to request a full copy of our contract/guarantee for review if desired." It was this client's choice not to request contract for review. We directly provided all information up front.

Our non-refundable deposit terms are clearly provided up front on the same page.

This individual had every option to review paperwork, but chose not to request a copy of contract/guarantee paperwork (which was offered and would have been available), prior to confirming a reservation and placing a deposit. We spent hours on the phone with this individual, his wife, and another hour meeting her in person and introducing her to the puppies and our dogs. We held this puppy reservation for them, and tuned away multiple other potential homes for this puppy, due to their reservation commitment. Our $500 non-refundable deposit is to cover the waste of time and additional training and care and socialization and work that must be covered with a ready to go home puppy that has a committed home back out at the last minute.

This client backed out of their reservation after we held their reservation to the point where the pups were ready to be chosen and go home. We were polite, civil, and offered repeatedly to review contract with client and discuss adjustment/modification to areas of concern, and then politely accepted client's decision to back out of their commitment at the last minute when the pup was ready to go home, with no hard feelings.

We did not "rip off" this individual. They are upset at us for their own choices. I find it sad but telling that these same people who repeatedly decided multiple offers to discuss and address their concerns and were treated with nothing but respect, would smile to my face and then resort to spreading false "ripoff reports" (they were not ripped off in any way) and negative smear reviews online. That is today's society though ... no-one can take responsibility for their own actions and the results of their own choices without desperately trying to find someone else to blame and point the finger at.
