Complaint Review: Absolute Vanlines

Whatever you do... do not do business with this company! This place is a scam!!
I booked a small move from Vancouver to Montreal weeks in advanced and paid a $200 deposit.

1. They were supposed to call me 12 to 48 hours before the move to let me know when the driver would be there. That never happened. I had to call them the day of to get any information about my move, then was told it's always between 4 and 6 pm.

2. At 3pm, I received a phone call saying that the truck is broken and they could not pick up my items on the set date. They offered to pick up the next day between 4 and 6 pm again. I tried to have them come earlier but they could not. Luckily I was able to make arrangement to occupy the apartment one more day (what if it had been the last day of the month?!?)

3. The next day, no one called me. I tried calling and emailing the booking agent and got no answer. Then 4 o'clock came and no movers... then 5... then 6... then 7pm. The movers never showed up nor did they call.

4. I had to change my flight which cost me $100. I had to make more arrangements to occupy the apartment longer. I was very lucky I could do that. Then I had to book with a different company which I researched properly before booking and was extremely reliable and trustworthy.

5. I send an email to my booking agent to let them know I was very upset and that I had to book with a different company and to refund my deposit immediately. I received a cancellation email on the Monday (no call mind you) and it stated that I had broken our contract and the deposit was non-refundable. I called and spoke to the booking agent and got nowhere. She said that that the drivers called and I never answered which is impossible since I looked at my call history and no call was missed or received from them.

Moving is stressful and moving across Canada is even more stressful. This is absolutely inacceptable behavior and this company should be shut down immediately.
