ACA Recovery Services is a sneaky collection agency whom I hope to never deal with again. Mr. Brooks (a representative for ACA) called me, posed as an attorney, and demanded payment for a debt within 1 week or promised a warrant would be issued for my arrest for felony theft.

I tried and tried to work out payment arrangements with this man, only to be told that I could not have a physical mailing address to send payments. I was only given a Western Union Quik Collect address, which costs me nearly $15.00 each week to send payments to pay off this debt. After calling 3 times in one day, my sister in law tried as well to call for an address, and was given all my personal information, regarding my unpaid debt, by Mr. Brooks, who simply asked her last name(which is the same as mine), but verifying no further info from her to assure he was speaking with a client. Afterwards, I was harrassed 4 more times at work that day, even after I asked for the calls to stop. At the end of my workday, still no mailing address to send in a payment. Amazing, this ACA is hired by companies to collect money, however won't give the address out to those who owe, to send the money to them.

The stress this has put me under, worrying about arrest warrants being filed for me and trying to pay a balance in full within one weeks' time, is overwhelming. I am a single mother who is trying to raise a child with no support from the father, and now have to worry about Mr. Brooks attempting to have me arrested and possibly causing me to lose my job because of his harassing phone calls at work. (By the way, I have yet to receive anything by mail from these people.)

I had no intention of running from my debt, and have contacted the original creditor to send them payments directly, which I have been doing weekly. Mr.Brooks is a very persistent, rude character with no respect for anything except lining his pockets. These kind of threats should be illegal and untolerated. As well, this ACA should be seriously investigated concerning their immoral business practices.

Greetings.....I read your post and thought I would offer you some advice. I am a senior loan officer for Wells Fargo and have been for over 15 years now.....let give you a few tips on what is wrong with this situation and what YOU can do to control it.

1) Relax.....there will be NO warrant issued for felony theft......for one thing a collection agency has NO...repeat NO power and or authority to issue such a warrant. NONE.

2) it is illegal for a collection agency to threaten you with a warrant for arrest

3) it is illegal for a collection agency to NOT provide you a physical address

4) it is ALSO illegal for a collection agency to require someone to use Western Union ..( they want you to because it generates money for them and they know the payement is good)

5) YOU are in control..YOU have the money...next time someone calls you from there...do NOT..repeat DO NO get into a conversation with them...if you have a just debt then you should of course pay it...but dont let these people bully or scare you. IN fact it is ILLEGAL for any aganecy to actually say they are going to do something and not be in a position to do it...( such as a warrant and its also illegal for them to pose as an attorney or for them to release information about your debt to someone other then a spouse without your consent.

6) It also is illegal for a collection agency to contact you once you have told them to not contact
you except for them to tell you there next course of action

7) bottom line....tell them.. "go ahead" these people sound like low life "parasite" debt collectors and they give the entire industry ( banks etc ) a black eye. Again RELAX>>>>>

NO collection aganecy anywhere in this country can issue or cause a warrent to be issued for theft...NONE
