Acai Advanced Free trial-- Was not aware of the recurring charges/ and cancellation Internet
I ordered a free trial of Acai Advanced on June 4th, 2009. They sent me a 30 day supply stating at that time that the 15 day supply was free. I did not order anything other than the free trial.
I received the product about two weeks after it was ordered. At that time the credit card I had used to make the purchase for postage was lost and I canceled the card. To my surprise I was charged while away on a number that was canceled. And then charged again. I have not yet received any more of the product.
I called them and they said that they could not refund my money as I should have called within the 14 day trial period. They meant the 14 days from the date of purchase as I had not received the product in a timely manner. They said that this was clearly stated when I purchased the product and by using my card I had agreed to this. I don't recall seeing any terms or conditions when I purchased the product. In fact I was looking for this and did not see it.
When I called them on July 14th they told me that I could cancel the product going forward, but would not give me a RMA number to return the original product and the product that has not yet been received.
I went back on the site to see if there was anything about no refunds (of products not even received). This time I found a tab about terms and conditions. It states that I may be liable for future goods and services if I don't cancel. Well I canceled and have not received the product and it probably has not even shipped yet. The terms and conditions were not in the documentation when I purchased postage for the original trial. I find this deceptive and unethical.
I asked to speak to a supervisor. She would only give me her first name and a e-mail address. I asked for the address of the company and she would not give that information to me either. She said the company was located in Maine.
