ripoff

Access Auto sold me a Lemon.

On March 31,2006, I purchased a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. I test drove it & when I returned to the office, I mentioned to the saleman that I could hear a knocking noise under the hood. I was told that it was just probably an octane knock. On my way home (50 miles from the car lot), the oil light came on. I called the salesman, he told me to check the oil. It was 2 Qts. low in which I was told the shop had changed the oil. The oil on the dipstick was solid black. I informed the salesman of this. He said for me to make an appointment to get it changed. I did.

The folloing Thursday, on April 6th, they changed the oil. Everything seemed to be o.k. at that point. The next day on my way home from work (30 miles from home), the van lost power and made an awful clanging noise like marbles in a tin can. When I turned the corner to my house, the engine died. I immediately called the salesman. He said he would dispatch a tow truck.

They finally picked my van up the following Monday, April 10th. They have had it since. They sold me the van with a 14 day warranty, the Van blew a rod through engine block. Company said they would replace the motor at their cost. They have had my van for over 3 weeks. They wouldn't answer my phone calls or return any calls, so on April 26, 2006, I went to the office & confronted them, I was told that they are not going to replace the motor that I have over reved the engine for a long period. Their Mechanic said the day I bought the van they had done a 105 point inspection and the vehicle was sound.

I have been renting a vehicle for 3 weeks now, & they won't even help me with the expense. Now I am told that I can't get my $600 down pymt back, they will not trade me for a vehiicle similar to the one I bought, nor will they fix the motor. I am a full time student in which my school is 65 miles from my home and I work 30 miles from my home. I take care of my disabled father whom needs to get to his Doctor's appointments 60 miles away from home.

I have been out a lot of money dealing with these people. They need to have the hammer slammed down on them the way they slammed it on me. I can't afford legal representation to fight this. I need a vehicle and now that I have financed that van, I can't get financing from another dealer.

Marjorie:

You mentioned you had a 14 day warranty, car purchased 3/31/06 and auto dealer picked up 4/10/06. That is 10 days so your vehicle was still under their warranty, the real question here is what did your warranty cover?

When you signed the paperwork a copy of the warranty should have been given to you, look it over carefully and see if this problem should be covered, if so, then yes they should repair the problem.

For your sake and your situation I hope it is covered.

Call your local news station, maybe they have a problem solvers that can help you get resolution.

Good Luck and stand up to these auto places.
