It is my understanding the Kansas Department of Revenue contracts with Ace Bail Bonds in North Topeka Kansas for installation services regarding interlock devices on vehicles.  We also believe installers; not just the business must be certified to do so.

 

I telephoned The Topeka Police Department and they suggested I write a complaint so the matter could be investigated first by your office.

 

The person serving us was rude of which there is no law against however I believe his attitude started an office “free-for-all.” He told the installer in a sarcastic manner, “if you don’t know how to do this I can come out and help put it on in a minute.” After the installer left this same employee also told everyone in the office that the man had put on 10 of them and that was enough to know how; leaving us with the impression the installer was not certified.

 

The second male at a third desk began to make harassing comments then started using profanity. I asked him to mind that a child was standing in the room and not to use that language. Flippantly he said, “if you don’t like it, leave.” He said he owned the ground the business was on. The third person in the room, a female, snapped her fingers, pointed her finger and yelled “get out!” She quickly threw her body out of her chair, up into the air and in front of the child. I stepped in front of the child and told her how violent she looked and I said, “You will NOT harm this child.” The second male at the third desk said, “what you gonna do, call the police?” I said I would call another type of police..child protective services if he didn’t stop the nasty language. The female employee joined him in using filthy words. And both the female and male continued harassing.

 

A female was sitting behind us and as I looked, she had her hands over her ears. She remarked she could hear the siren from down the street. The second male sitting at the third desk had turned on a very high pitched alarm.  To further harass us, I assume.

 

Upon checking out the vehicle for installation, my son asked the installer how many devices a day he installed, he acted like he didn’t know.

 

A phone call from Robson-Ace Self Storage aka Ace Bail Bonds 785-838-9977 from Lawrence Kansas left me feeling threatened and afraid. Robson yelled on the phone saying he would retaliate with the best lawyers in Kansas and threatened me to stop and think before I called CPS (child protective services). He told me nothing of which I reported had taken place because he has known his employees for 10 years. I told him there was a witness (the customer behind us) and he told me he would talk to her…giving me the impression he would make sure she wasn’t a witness for us. He said I was lying and that he based his life on his employees. He did not seem at all interested that his employees scared the 5-year old boy repeatedly and offended us with foul language and threatening behavior.

 

While Topeka has a majority of good upstanding business owners who are friendly and know how to treat people, there is always that one business that threatens and harasses customers just because they can.

 

I am standing up for my grandson and for all children who might frequent this business, under contract with The Department of Revenue.

 

  1. Is installer certified;

  2. unbecoming language;

  3. violent behavior;

  4. credibility of business owner, and;

  5. inacceptable language and behavior in the presence of a minor child.
