My husband thought he was paying off a pay day loan, which we did get last year.  We made arrangements to pay it off and then all of a sudden the threatening calls started.  If you do not pay $845.00 we will have a policemen at your door tomorrow to arrest you.  He told them with the arrangement we made we only owed $400.00 they said are you playing games  and then connected us the their "attorney" who told us if we paid the amount of 452.00 then it would be all taken care of so my husband did that via Western Union to some person in Maryland.  He then said we would be sent a certified letter saying paid.  Well yesterday he called again and said the court would not accept that money and we had to pay to full amount including court fees of $745.00 via Western Union again to the same person or tomorrow he would get arrested.  We have been sued before so I know about the process.  MY husband has had bypass and was shaking. We were told because the court did not accept the payment they had mailed it back to us.  I by this time am livid but that we could not wait to get this money first before we paid them more.  So he paid it again and with the western union charge it was over $800.00.  So now we have paid over $1200 not including $500.00 form the payment arrangement.  We do not have that kind of money to just throw around.  If they call again they are getting nothing.  We have a lawyer we have contacted hopefully he can help.

If someone calls and threatens you, they are in violation of the civil laws for collection companies....also a good way to get rid of them, its your right to see copies of the original documents stating that what they say you owe is valid...9 out of 10 times you never hear from them again.
