I am a Fort Collins, CO resident that likes to eat out regularly. I have used the site activediner.com a few times now and they seem to only have great reviews of most all restaurants in town. I have followed a few of the good reviews and have been absolutely astonished at the bad quality of some of these places that were recommended.

Naturally, you would think the site is used for the general public to voice there opinions on where they like to eat but I have tried many times now to post negative reviews of some of he places I've eaten at. I feel as though I've been ripped off by what seem like fake- hyped up reviews.

For example they said one local steak house was a place that is used as a culinary example for World class chefs all over the world. My Wife and I went there and it was one of the trashiest places I have ever been and I was served one of the worst steaks in my life. I couldn't even finish it. I would have rather eaten a steak at Denny's. Seriously. Well just had to throw out a rant about this website because with their fake review site I was ripped off financially by spending money at bad restaurants. Thanks

ActiveDiner Does It's Best to Publish Authentic Reviews

#2UPDATE Employee

Thu, February 28, 2008

As Content Manager for Activediner.com, I would like to respond to the diner from Fort Collins, CO. First, let me say that I am sorry for the poor dining experiences you have endured. Eating out is a luxury that often combines relaxing and indulging, and poor dining experiences not only fail to satisfy, but also cost hard earned money which is really frustrating.

That being said, as a person who personally scales through thousands of actual dining reviews per week, I can assure you of the authenticity of the integrity of Activediner.com. All our reviews come from authentic dining experiences as far as we know. However, the online dining guide is a precarious business.

We at Activediner.com do our very best to judge the reviews we receive for honesty as can best be discerned, whether negative or positive. We actually have restaurant owners who complain to us that there are too many negative reviews on our site! There are general guidelines against profanity, flaming, condescending, personal attacks, and other obviously offensive material, but not to the point of censorship of what appears to be truthful, clean, yet negative reviews. We are happy to post any future reviews you may have, pending they are in line with our reasonable guidelines.

We cannot, however, guarantee that each review will be percieved as accurate to all other diners. It is much like a person who goes to the movies after hearing a critic give it 5 stars but doesn't end up feeling the same way about the movie. If you have any future concerns, we have a contact page in which you can reach us. I would urge everyone to do this before resorting to writing a public complaint on Rip Off Report as I think it is common courtesy. Again, I am truly sorry for your poor dining experiences and hope that you will allow Activediner.com another chance to help you find your next dining destination.

Sincerely,
Heather McCormick
Activediner.com Content Manager
