Have you ever gone to the movies and said these tickets are too expensive? Have you ever questioned the movie and the people behind the movie what they make in earnings? Let’s take a look at actor Johnny Depp; have you ever seen a movie with Johnny Depp? We’ll guess what; Johnny Depp gets $20 to $44 million per movie, that’s per film salary. The average time for an actor to film as an actor is about 40 days work, if you average 30 days work at $20 million that’s about $6,000.00 to $20,000.00 dollars an hour depending on the days of the film is laid out in. All 5 star hotel expenses, traveling first class and all, all paid for besides the actors salary.

Johnny Depps earnings

Yearly:    $100,000,000.00
Monthly: $8,333,333.33
Weekly  : $1,923,076.92
Daily:      $384,615.38

Per film average is $20 to $44 million plus lifetime royalties

Considering the US economy is in recession as the average annual income in the United States is $31,000.00 a year. Doesn’t it make you angry when you see people like Johny Depp making $6,000.00 an hour to $20,000.00 per hour or $20 to $44 million over a 1 to 2 months worth of work? How about 2 or 3 films in one year at $20 $44 million per film and royalties on top of that too. Do you think he thinks about the salaries other people make such as for example at $8.00 $10.00 $18.00 $20.00 an hour behind the set or people behind a coffee counter or restaurant what they make? Do you think he cares about how hard a 75 year old man still having to work as his pension doesn’t pay him enough for his medication to work a part-time job at $8.00 an hour when someone like Johnny Depp makes over $6,000.00 to $20,000.00 an hour? Johnny Depp driving a brand new 2010 $350,000.00 Lamborghini down the street and mega million dollar homes, what about those people working for $8.00 an hour? You think Johnny Depp thinks about how hard people work and how they have to earn a living? What if we took Johnny Depp and said Johnny, we have a movie and we need an actor for it. We have a limited budget. We can only pay you $10.00 an hour and if that isn’t enough $100.00 an hour maybe. What do you think Johnny Depp would say? Take a guess. Just imagine it? $20 million per film salary to work for $10.00 or $100.00 an hour, do you think he would work for it? If not, how many Americans right now would want to make $10.00 an hour in a bad recession economy? If Johnny Depp said no and you said yes, how does that make you feel and how does it make Johnny Depp feel. Cheap versing not enough.

Isn’t it wonderful that Hollywood pays only a handful of people big money and star royalty treatment? Well Johnny Depp does not think his salary is a ripoff and nor does he think about the hard workers behind the set making $8.00 an hour to pay $10.50 or more per movie ticket either.

Ever seen Johnny Depp pay a role as a low income worker making low money as the character in a movie but really in real life, he is mega rich. He pays the poor character and hungry but that’s only behind the set when he has millions in his bank account. And let’s not forget lifetime royalties either. Each film also Johnny Depp gets a royalty as well. Johnny Depp still gets a paycheck every time that movie plays and every other film he acted in has to pay his royalty. When you see a movie and see all the credits behind a movie, think about all the people behind the set making hourly wages from $8.00 to $15.00 an hour to do all the little things behind a movie. Now think of Johnny Depp with all those people making those wages and him making $6,000.00 to $20,000.00 an hour? Does that sound fair? What about a movie 14 years ago and everybody back than already worked and got paid but Johnny Depp is still getting paid, every movie. I mean really how much is too much? Do you think he is a RIPOFF. I would say so. Listen he maybe an actor but in my opinion not a great actor. There are thousands of talented Broadway actors that make $15 to $20 an hour, why do those talented Broadway actors have to make so little but Johnny Depp has to make $6,000.00 to $20,000.00 dollars an hour versing them? What’s the difference? The world is full of talented actors, is it fair that people have to make so much more than others?

If you took a bunch of employees making $8.00 an hour, how many employees would it take them to earn their wages to pay off Johnny Depp for his per film salary at $20 million dollars, imagine? Let’s say the average week of work is 40 hours at week at $8.00 an hour to total $20 million. How many employees would it take to per off Will Smith’s $20 million from people making minimum wage at $8.00. It would take about 62,500 employees for one week at $320.00 each to cover Johnny Depp $20 million dollar per film annual salary). Wow That’s 62,500 people at $8.00 an hour to pay Johnny Depp (and that’s not even $44 million which means a whole lot more minimum wage employees to cover his salary) and I didn’t even mention taxes. Now wonder why so many people are broke, paying these huge American Hollywood salaries. Do you think Johnny Depp would say yeah maybe I am making too much money, I’ll take a pay cut? Probably not. What if people complained and said that movie is a ripoff, a refund or don’t pay the money to the actors. Do you think Johnny Depp will be understanding and not charge his $20 to $44 dollar per film wage to satisfy movie goers his role was not so great? What do you think he would do, rein verse his salary to the movie producers if customers are not happy? I mean isn’t America the refund country if you don’t like it take it back? What if the earnings of the money were awful, would Johnny Depp say ok the movie didn’t make enough money and everybody’s in debt to make the movie, he would cut is salary so the movie could break even? Do you think Johnny Depp would be understanding or say, no I am worth $20 to $44 million in everything I do per film and you pay me for it? Take a guess what Johnny Depp would do.

Do you know if you go to college and you get your bachelors you may earn an extra $2 million in your lifetime in your career because you went to school. Lets say you make $65,000.00 a year and you work 30 years, how much are you worth when you retire versing Johnny Depp at about $50 to $100 plus million a year? $1,950,000.00 for 30 years (working 8 to 5, 5 day a week year around with 2 weeks vacation) where Johnny Depp will make 10% more each year for example his 30 years could be worth over a billion easily plus he vacations almost all year around and around the global because he makes so much money. Do you feel it is too much? You work hard and he doesn’t compared to hard working Americans. I mean really compare a hard working job making less than $10.00 an hour or even $20.00 or etc. Can you picture Johnny Depp landscaping, housecleaning, construction or concrete work or etc.

The bottom line is Johnny Depp is a ripoff and Hollywood production companies should be ashamed of themselves to pay greedy celebrity actors mega million per film salaries. Why do they pay so much to these actors? What is the reason for it? The Country is broke, the unemployment rate is 9.7% and businesses are suffering in financial debt but Hollywood continues to pay these ripoff salaries to Johnny Depp and others.

If you feel this is wrong and disgusted with Johnny Depps salary send him a letter to his agent and complain how much is too much. Think they’ll respond? After all Johnny Depp is in a Union, these wonderful unions to allow actors like this to make mega millions. Look at the US economy and where the money is going.

Shack of shame isn’t it. Shame on Johnny Depp for this incredible salary costing people millions to live his fortune on greed.

It appears that someone earned $158.55 per second in 2010, according to information that is available on the web. That's over $500,000.00 per hour for every hour in 2010.

There are 3,600 seconds in an hour, correct? If we multiply 3,600 seconds times $158.55 per second we get $570,780.00 per hour. There are 24 hours in a day, right? That means this person made $13,698,720.00 per day in 2010. There are 365 days in a year. If we multply 365 days times $13,698,720.00 per day we get $5,000,032,800.00, which is what this individual made in 2010. That's a heck of a lot more than Johnny Depp made, wouldn't you agree?

You can 'Google' this- PAULSON PROFITS $5 BILLION IN 2010: REPORT, and read the related articles on the web for proof.

Closing my report going to say I have no buff with Johnny Depp

To all and Johnny depp:

I am the original author of this report and as a constant movie goer, I have seen how Hollywood has paid millions to actors and has put movie theater businesses and people behind the set on the sidelines when it comes to pay. Yes Johnny Depp is making millions for little work effort, I think we can all agree to that.

Because I haven't seen much publicity on this subject because I believe the media which owns Hollywood probably wishes not to make this important subject, if there was some media on it, I am sure a lot of people would be outraged.

However I am not a cruel person and really I don't like to bash people but this subject had me really upset on how people can make this kind of money. So with that, I am basically going to put this behind me and say I am sorry for making this report.

I am sure Johnny Depp is a nice guy and I am sure maybe not all the money he gets is want he wishes for, maybe his agent and agent company are part of the taking as like all actors have to share their earnings.

When I wrote about this report, I was feeling sorry for the movie theaters struggling to pay there bills to rent expensive films because of expensive production costs and the people behind the set not making a decent living when around expensive actors. I wish there was some kind of divide and they would share everything between the people in place behind the set and the theaters were all part of instead of the actors getting all the mone.

So I am going to put this complaint I made a couple of years ago behind me and say I am sorry for making this report, i was really trying to get people talking about it and that was really my main reason.

Please accept my apologies for making this report, I am sorry I did so, if I could remove it I would.

I wish Mr Johnny Depp the best in his future and I am sorry for this report.

I fully agree that Johnny Depp is overpaid

I fully agree that Johnny Depp is overpaid and is making too much money. Doesn't work hard for his money. I would like to see Johnny Depp spend 2 years in Iraq making $35,000.00 a year like most of our US soldiers are making defending our country where Johnny Depp is banking on his corruption on greedy where other people are just making a living.

Shame on you Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp the Big ripoff actor!

Johnny Depp gets $4 million just to sign a 1 film contract, that is non-negotiable all paid up front. That is a paid out first. Ok, there is no refund in that. He gets that money, the director gets no non-negotiable contract. Johnny Depp does not write these movie's, his just the face in the film. Have you asked the same question on the writers? What credit do they get when they wrote the movie? Who movie is it anyway? A movie is like a patent, someone wrote it, it should be credited to those people first besides the investors seeking to invest to put the money down to promote and make the film possible.

Second if the movie does well, the actor fails as well. Again wrong answer. Johnny Depp is guaranteed the contract for the movie, even if the movie grosses 10% over its cost of production or even 1% from its production. You obviously don't know how these actor agents work do you. They are in the business to get their 10% from the actors contract, they have more lawyers on the actors contracts than the production companies.

Remember the movie with Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck in Gigli? The movie did horrible, it made nothing but hey both Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck got $20 million each. The director lost his shirt because it was his film, he had to pay these 2 greedy actors their money. That was made in 2003, you think for a second Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck would be understanding and return the money they cost the production of that movie? Not a chance, they took their money and ran with it and the agents also got their 10% commission. Johnny Depp is the same actor, he's about the money and he wants the money.

Third, just because they agree on a $44 million dollar for a one film contract, does not mean the people agree with it. Ask the movie theaters if they agree to pay the high rent fees when they rent the reels, they are sucked in to pay so much per week until the movie dies down. The actor does not give a hoot if they suffer, they only want that flat check and the royality money they will receive for their lifetime each movie they star in.

The movie business is ripping the public off by their so called greedy actors. They demand so much for each film and especially when they get an Acedemy Award or even only nominated, they want more. The business is sick considering how bad America is in and the greed proftting off it

Actors like in the media, the media will not talk about the actors getting 8 figure salaries. Sure the media will talk about CEO's but actors make much more than CEO's, so why doesn't the media talk about it.

Johnny Depp demands $20 million or more, that's his demand. If you took his fee out of the picture, then the movie price would be far cheap and movie business wouldn't have to have fare increases all the time.

Do you have health insurance, do you enjoy paying about 25% more each year it goes up and why they keep raising it? Johnny Depp is not a doctor or a health saving physician, has nothing to do with making America a better place, he makes it better for himself. Ok, bottom line.

I think there needs to be a media tweet on these co called excessive actor salaries.

When you see the people in the Wisconsin union protest, those people are protesting their salaries for salaries in the 5 figures,  not 8 figures. I am not a Union supportor but like at Johnny Depp he is in the Screen Actors Guild union.

Compare Wisconsin Union vs the Screen Actors Guild union? At what point does it make sense to pay some people $20 to $40 million a year vs. $50,000. a year?

At what point does it sink that the country is broke for what? Ever thought of it? How many Wal-Mart employees making $8.00 an hr does it pay to pay acotrs like Johnny Depp his salary? Add them up and tell yourself is that fair?

Imagine 20,000 employees uses their wages to pay for Johnny Depps salary in one movie? Johnny Depp works are average of 140 to 200 hours a movie.  Divide that into $20 to $44 million how his hour rate is?

This Hollywood industry is paying these actors these absurd salaries for their greed, plain and simple.

Why Johny Dep?

#13Consumer Comment

Fri, March 25, 2011

Why are you singling out Johny Dep?  All the top actors get paid massive amounts of money.  Let's include sports stars and large company CEO in that mix.

Face it, we always think everything should be fair, but, guess what, much of life is not fair.

Accept it and get over it or you'll live a miserable life.  I expect that you make unfair amounts compared to some poor person living in the slums of Bangladesh or wherever. Is that fair?

Actors are not the only one making money, what about athletes?  The reason Johnny is rich and you are not is no one will pay to see or listen to you.

At what point does this guy learn the country is broke and people out of work?

When people REFUSE to go to see his movies-simply do something else rather than pay "too much" for a movie ticket.  The choice is yours.

Shees!

Johnny Depp earned 50m (thats $85 million dollars for one movie) for portraying the Mad Hatter in Tim Burtons 3-D version.

The Disney film has grossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, making Depp the only actor to headline two $1 billion films, the other being Pirates of the Caribbean. The actor have requested absurd contracts to pay him more and more money.

Depp also landed a big upfront payday estimated at more than 15m (thats $28 million dollars) for The Tourist.

Last year Depp was 10th place on the Forbes annual list of top earning actors.

At what point does this guy learn the country is broke and people out of work?

Johnny depp overpaid

#13Consumer Comment

Wed, March 09, 2011

I hear your story Johnny Depp is making way too much money. After the filming is done what does he do afterwards. Flys home while to act on another high paying film contract on something else while the rest of the film editors, directors and producers are stuck geting the movie together months and months later. Sure it is unfair that this business pays these actors these absurd salaries and the rest get nothing.

It is not a fair business as the actors don't write the films or invest their own money in them, they just appear to act in them and want no part of the movie later. Actors should not get the credit, the writers and investors should be getting the money after all its their idea, why should actors get a percentage of the profit if they did nothing but played only an acting role? Johnny Depps leaves after the set is done on a private jet which the production company pays for. I personally think it is sick that how bad the economy is and you have an actor like this living high on the hog in life with people throwing money at him. He is not a doctor saving lives or something, he is just an actor, thats it and nothing more. What can he do? Just act. The guy is getting too much bottom line and he probably doesn't realize it either because he has been making too money for too long.
